A Triple Anniversary Weekend

posted by Andrea | 06/30/2012 | 10 comments

Yesterday, Dave’s brother got married… so their anniversary is now June 29. Our anniversary is today, June 30. And tomorrow (July 1) Dave’s sister and her husband will celebrate their 7th anniversary. Three siblings — three anniversaries — one weekend!

I’m reminded, almost daily, how perfect Dave is for me… especially now that I get to watch him be a dad. Here’s to many more years of road trips Dave 🙂

If you share my love for neat and organized work spaces, you will love today’s giveaway from OfficeMax.

Saving vs. Spending – It’s a Personal Choice

posted by Andrea | 06/27/2012 | 60 comments

Dave and I were recently laughing about the fact that some of our friends and family members who often give us a hard time about being so “cheap” are now hinting that “maybe we shouldn’t be spending so much on our kitchen renovation”.

If you’ve ever been “judged” for how you save or spend… this post should make you smile!

Six Tips to Start Canning

posted by Andrea | 06/26/2012 | 18 comments

I won’t be doing any canning this year — thanks to our “fun” kitchen renovation — but I did preserve a double batch of everything last year… so we won’t starve!

If you’re still not ready for canning season — or if you’ve never canned before, today’s guest post offers 6 tips to help you get started.

Dave and I are gearing up for a 10-hour road trip to his brother’s wedding later this week…. and yes, our cute, and very fussy, 7 month-old baby is coming along too!

I’m just a tiny bit anxious… especially since this is our first trip with her. So since I know many of you have lots of experience traveling with babies and young children, I’d LOVE for you to share your best tips for traveling tots… pretty please!

Nora @ 7 Months

posted by Andrea | 06/23/2012 | 22 comments

Seven month! Last year at this time, we were thrilled to find out we were having a girl — and I was finally starting to LOOK pregnant {not just chubby}

Yes, everyone told us how different our lives would be after Nora was born… and we believed them. However, we honestly had no idea how true those words would be.

After FIVE years of running my own business, I’ve come to realize that I need to be able to work anywhere — not just at home in my office. There are times when I work from a client’s home, from a coffee shop, in the car, on a blanket with Nora, etc.

If you’re constantly on-the-go or frequently work from remote locations, today’s giveaway will definitely help to simplify and organize your mobile office space!

Chocolate Cake… in my New Slow Cooker!

posted by Andrea | 06/21/2012 | 18 comments

As you know, Dave and I are smack in the middle of a huge kitchen renovation — which means our kitchen is completely unusable. Thankfully, I received a brand new Stovetop Slow Cooker from Hamilton Beach and have been using it to whip up all sorts of delicious slow cooker recipes.

My most recent recipe was chocolate cake… and was it ever good!

What Do You Do With Half-Dirty Clothes?

posted by Andrea | 06/20/2012 | 65 comments

Recently, I’ve received quite a few questions about what I do with my half-dirty clothes — you know, the shirt you wear for part of the day and although it isn’t really “dirty”, it’s also not clean enough to put back in the closet.

I chuckle to myself whenever I read these emails and questions because this has been a topic Dave and I have debated ever since we were married. Today I’d love to know what YOU do with your half-dirty clothes.

A Tour of Our “Apartment Size” Kitchen

posted by Andrea | 06/19/2012 | 15 comments

During our kitchen renovations this summer, we turned half our home office into an apartment size kitchen. It’s REALLY small, and it has no running water — so it’s certainly not the most practical kitchen I’ve ever used… but it works!

Today, I’m giving a “tour” of the tiny little “kitchen” we’ll be using for the next couple months. I’m sure it will make our new kitchen seem THAT much bigger!

Grass Maintenance 101

posted by Andrea | 06/18/2012 | 9 comments

First of all, let me just start by saying that I am far from an expert on grass maintenance… but since Dave and I love a nice green, lush lawn, we’re doing our best to figure out how to appropriately take care of our HUGE front lawn and keep it healthy and green all summer long.

Today, I’m sharing a few of the tips we’ve learned about lawn maintenance over the past few years.

Five-Minute Chocolatey Pretzel Bites

Today is my 27th birthday… and I’m celebrating by tearing apart my kitchen!

Normally, someone might share a cake recipe on their birthday, but since I’ve never been a huge fan of cake, I’m sharing a fun {and extremely simple} treat that I absolutely LOVE. Of course I love the salty/sweet combo of the pretzels and chocolate, but I also love that I can whip up several dozen of these treats in about 5 minutes.

My New “Go-With-The-Flow” Attitude

posted by Andrea | 06/14/2012 | 29 comments

If someone were going to describe my personality, “go-with-the-flow” would NOT be the words they might choose… I can guarantee it! And you know what, I’m not bothered by that one bit.

However…Over the past 6+ months since Nora was born, I’ve been FORCED (completely against my will) to learn how to go-with-the-flow. I’m still not very good at it; but I’m learning 🙂 And in case you don’t believe me, here are 4 examples from the past few weeks:

I’ve also had fun browsing the many, MANY different Apple and iPhone accessories! Today, I’m sharing five of my favorites…

Simple, Practical Wedding and Shower Gifts

posted by Andrea | 06/12/2012 | 29 comments

I’m a huge fan of wedding registries because they allow guests to give gifts the bride and groom actually want. I’m also a fan of simple, practical gifts that anyone starting a new home will need.

This past weekend, we attended a shower for my sister. She got lots of great gifts off her registry… but my other sister and I went in on a gift together and we deviated from the registry just a bit 🙂
