We’re just weeks away from another new year — a fresh start, a new beginning. And while I definitely don’t want to rush through the holiday season, I can’t help but be excited to flip over my calendar on January 1.

If you share my enthusiasm, yet feel like you’ve been struggling to “really live” your best and most fulfilling life, today’s post might be just what you need to get excited about another new year.

A few weeks ago, I blogged about our super overwhelming yard project. After that post went live, several people commented that my “any progress is still progress” philosophy could actually be applied to almost anything in life. And I totally agree!

Do you have any overwhelming projects on your to-do list? If so, I hope this post will be the motivation you need to get started.

Over the past several years, one of the MOST common complaints I hear from others is, “it’s just so overwhelming… I don’t know where to start.” Can you relate?

I know I can certainly relate to feeling totally overwhelmed when certain projects are hanging over my head — so today, I’m sharing 3 really simple tips that will hopefully help you to finally tackle those projects that seem so overwhelming!

I’ve been trying REALLY hard to take lots of photos these days. However, I often get annoyed with myself for taking so many pictures… but then keeping them “locked up” in my camera, my phone, or on our portable hard drive.

So I’ve been making an effort to print more pictures lately, and since photos are relatively inexpensive {compare to pricey art pieces} I thought I would share a few different ideas for decorating your home with photos.

Dave and I are already starting to make plans for a massive kitchen/dinning room renovation we hope to start and finish this summer {with the help of my dad and many others I’m sure}!

I’ll be sharing more photos, ideas, and details in the months leading up to our renovation… but right now, we’re still in the “dreaming” stage and trying to decide what we want to incorporate into our new kitchen. Here are a few pictures of what my dream kitchen might look like!

An Update on My Ideas Book

It’s been almost a year since I first blogged about my Ideas Book. And ever since then, I still get a couple emails or comments each week asking about my Ideas Book, what I put in the Ideas Book, how I organize my Ideas Book, etc. etc. I even get comments on other posts referencing my Ideas Book!

So, I figured it was time I revisited this topic… especially since I’ve significantly updated the way I keep track of all my ideas!!

Our Reclaimed Barn Wood Floors

posted by Andrea | 08/8/2011 | 12 comments

Dave, my dad, and I have been working hard to finish “round one” of our renovation projects before Dave starts school and before our two international students arrive {in about 3 weeks!} And one of the main projects we HAD to finish was our new hardwood floors — but they aren’t just any hardwood floors; they are reclaimed barn wood – which basically means the wood we used for our floors was taken out of old barns and milled down […]

The Benefits of NOT Owning Your Dream Home

posted by Andrea | 07/12/2011 | 12 comments

First of all, let me just clarify that Dave and I are NOT planning to move; nor are we dissatisfied with our lovely farmhouse!! However, if you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you might have noticed that I never really talked about our old house. It was a great house for us and we managed to fix it up quite nicely — but it was NOT our dream house…so I guess I never felt the desire to talk about […]

Earlier this week, I blogged about our dream house — and how excited we are to be moving there in just a few short weeks!! Well, apparently many of you found our news equally exciting! Since Monday, I’ve received TONS of positive feedback via facebook, twitter, blog comments, and even a bunch of emails from people I don’t know — who just felt compelled to send their congratulatory words my way! I just love looking at my Inbox and seeing “Congratulations”, “We’re Excited For […]

My Ideas Book

For those of you who don’t know me, my dream house is a big, old farmhouse just waiting for me to move in and completely renovate it from the inside out. {I know, I’m crazy!} And even though I don’t live in my dream house just yet, I’ve been collecting ideas for years already…many, MANY years! I’ve been searching through magazines, newspapers, books, and the internet; looking for inspirational ideas for my dream house, and when I find something I like, I rip […]

My Dream House; My Farmhouse

posted by Andrea | 09/30/2010 | 18 comments

Ever since I was a little girl I have dreamed of living in an old farmhouse. Honestly, I have no idea where my unwavering obsession with farmhouses comes from; or why my {extremely} practical nature allows me to continually fantasize about my dream house… my “someday house”… MY farmhouse. But I don’t think I’m going to change. Currently, we live in a ranch {and no offense to ranch homes…but I’m not a big fan}.  We love the location of our house, we love […]

Simple Fall Decor

posted by Andrea | 09/24/2010 | 4 comments

I’m a big fan of decorating with disposable items; mainly so I don’t have to store them all year round. Since fall is my favorite season {I live in Michigan — it’s gorgeous!} it would be so easy for me to accumulate gobs of fun decor items, but I don’t. I only allow myself one (yes ONE) small tub. Honest! If you really think about it, I should have no trouble decorating with items from nature such as fruits, gourds, […]

DIY Paper Wreath

Yesterday I posted about different ways to turn paper clutter into creative gift wrap. Today, I have another super creative idea for your paper clutter — courtesy of Ashley at Give Me the Simple Life. This DIY Paper Wreath! Ashley has an amzaing blog that features all sorts of “simple living” ideas, crafts, projects, etc…so I’m a huge fan! However, when I saw her paper wreath project, I just knew I had to feature it. Not only is this project super […]

Saturday Stumbles: Design Inspiration

This week was one crazy week! On top of doing everything I normally do each week {which is already a lot}, I decided that it was time to redecorate our living room and our office. It’s been 4 years now and I keep pushing it off in hopes that we might move out of our suburban ranch into an adorable  farmhouse in the country. Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s going to happen for a few more years, and I’m fine with that. […]
