Hot Fruit Salad (in the Slow Cooker)
posted by Andrea | 01/21/2013 | 10 commentsFruit salad… in a slow cooker? Yes, you read that right — and it is one of my all-time favorite fruit salad recipes!
It’s so simple and uses mostly non-perishable canned fruits, so you can always keep the ingredients on hand for a last-minute side dish.
Slow Cooker Sweet n’ Sour Pork
posted by Andrea | 08/2/2012 | 10 commentsA few weeks ago, I tried one of our favorite recipes, Sweet n’ Sour Pork, in the slow cooker. I used exactly the same ingredients as I normally do, but instead of cooking it for 3 hours in the oven, I cooked it for 6 hours on low in the slow cooker.
It was absolutely delicious!
Slow Cooker Pizza Pasta
posted by Andrea | 07/11/2012 | 19 commentsThe other day, Dave and I were both in the mood for pasta. However, while our kitchen is under renovation, I have no oven and no stove top.
After searching around the internet, I came up with a delicious slow cooker recipe that doesn’t even require boiled noodles. It’s a delicious “remake” of our favorite pizza pasta dish!
Chocolate Cake… in my New Slow Cooker!
posted by Andrea | 06/21/2012 | 18 commentsAs you know, Dave and I are smack in the middle of a huge kitchen renovation — which means our kitchen is completely unusable. Thankfully, I received a brand new Stovetop Slow Cooker from Hamilton Beach and have been using it to whip up all sorts of delicious slow cooker recipes.
My most recent recipe was chocolate cake… and was it ever good!
Slow Cooker Western Egg Casserole
posted by Andrea | 01/25/2012 | 19 commentsThanks to my new meal planning method, we have breakfast for dinner once each week. We do this partially because we really like breakfast foods, but also because breakfast foods are great way to get lots of protein without spending money on expensive cuts of meat.
However, the one thing I don’t always like about breakfast foods is the inability to prepare them ahead of time — so I’m really excited to share this delicious slow cooker breakfast recipe with you today!
Slow Cooker Vietnamese Chicken
posted by Andrea | 01/14/2012 | 8 commentsEarlier this week I shared a few slow cooker receips I want to try in the coming months — and I mentioned that I already had one very successful and extremely delicious meal to share with you… Vietnamese Chicken!
Since I had all the other ingredients in our house — and since this recipe specifically calls for FROZEN chicken, I quickly whipped it up and threw it in the crock pot. The chicken was absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and actually quite “Asian tasting” — which is something I’ve never been able to achieve with other recipes!
Slow Cooker Recipes I Want to Try in 2012
posted by Andrea | 01/10/2012 | 17 commentsI got a new slow cooker for Christmas and have already used it a couple of times. I actually have 3 different slow cookers — all different sizes — but to be honest, I haven’t used them as much as I should.
So this year, my goal is to use a slow cooker once a week — or at least a few times each month.
I’ve already made a few really delicious meals {recipes coming soon}… but here are a few more I definitely want to try this coming year.
Simple, Delicious Crock Pot Recipes
posted by Andrea | 12/14/2011 | 13 commentsOne of the reasons I love using my crock pot is because I can just dump all the ingredients in, turn it on, and walk away. I don’t need to stir a boiling pot and I don’t need to pull something out of the oven on time… I can simply go about my day and come back in several hours to a hot meal and a delicious smelling kitchen!
Today I’m sharing 2 really simple crock pot recipes from a loyal reader… they’re so delicious!

Homemade Yogurt
posted by Andrea | 07/7/2010 | 28 commentsHave you ever tried making your own yogurt? If you are like me…probably not! I was perfectly content to purchase my store-bought yogurt and I figured homemade yogurt would be too difficult to make — and it can be. However, about a month ago, I came across a recipe for making yogurt in a slow cooker. It didn’t seem nearly as time-intensive or overwhelming so I figured I would give it a try. Now I’m hooked! The recipe below makes an entire [...]
