posted by Andrea | 07/18/2017 | 15 comments

My kids love any type of frozen treat (especially during hot summer months). And while we do have some popsicles, ice cream sandwiches, and freeze pops, I also freeze gogurts, we make our own juice and pudding pops, AND I’ve started making chocolate covered banana pops (and bites) — which the kids think are so fantastic.

If you’re looking for a frugal, simple, delicious summer treat — give these a try!!!

posted by Andrea | 07/6/2017 | 25 comments

As many of you know, I’m not normally one for “gourmet” cooking or baking. That said, I’ve always had somewhat of a weakness for gourmet cookies (like the ones at Panera Bread).

So today, I’m sharing how I make gourmet-looking cookies at home with just a couple extra minutes!

Homemade Juice Pops – A Simple Summer Snack

posted by Andrea | 06/23/2016 | 17 comments

A couple months ago, the kids and I stumbled across a popsicle mold at the dollar store and I quickly snatched it up, promising homemade popsicles for a snack later that day.

Since then, we have enjoyed homemade juice pops as an afternoon snack on a VERY regular basis! They taste great on a hot summer day and take roughly 10 seconds to make!!

One of my most favorite “Mexican-ish” snacks (or side dishes) is this yummy 7-layer chip dip. It’s SO quick and easy to make and it tastes absolutely delicious with tortilla chips or corn chips.

How We Do Snacks and Sweet Treats

Over the past month, I’ve gotten many emails and questions about how we handle snacks and desserts in our home — and since the Dekkers are all BIG fans of snacks and sweets, I figured it would be a fairly simple post to share.

Plus, I had so much fun digging up all those cute “messy face” photos of my kids from past years!

Our entire family has a sweet spot for cookies — they are definitely our go-to snack of choice almost all the time.

It’s super quick, simple, and very sturdy — which makes it easy to cut into fun shapes and pieces.

Pizza Sammies: A Recipe from Dave!

This super simple recipe is actually one of Dave’s recipes — from when he lived on his own for a year before we were married 🙂

Pizza Sammies (as we call them) are definitely a “step up” from traditional grilled cheese sandwiches, they are most likely a lot healthier than traditional pizza, and they make a great lunch, dinner, or even a protein-packed snack when you’re in a hurry.
