Are sit-down family meals a priority for you?
If so, gather family and friends around your table…
I’ll show you how to feed them without spending all day in the kitchen — complete with a sample meal plan and recipe links!
It’s a great time of year to evaluate your life, home, family, job, schedule, etc., and take note of what’s working, what’s not, what you’re doing well, and what you’d like to change.
Today, I’m sharing a few small changes I want to make in the coming year… as well as the FREE downloadable Habit Tracker that helps me stick with my goals and habits!
When it’s that time of year and you’re looking for yet another way to incorporate blueberries into every dish you make, look no further than these amazingly delicious and oh-so-easy blueberry muffins.
Whether your berries are picked fresh from a local farm or from the freezer section at Costco, this recipe is just what you need to turn delicious seasonal fruit into mouth-watering muffins.
Did you know that dry milk (or powdered milk) can be used as a frugal, shelf-stable alternative to so many dairy products?
Curious how you might substitute dry milk for your favorite dairy products? Keep reading! I share 6 simple ways you can use dry milk in your kitchen (and a free printable recipe card!)
In today’s Peek Into Our Week post, I’m sharing our menu plan (with links to the recipes), several of our favorite family games, the new business projects and goals I’m working on, and yes… our most recent family pictures!
I’d also love any of your ideas or suggestions for how you would like my blog to function, change, etc.
As you know, I’m fairly frugal — and I’m also quite resourceful in the sense that I LOVE finding another use for things I already have in the house!
Our butter wrappers are one of those things I have found a “second use” for — and although I’ve been saving them for YEARS, I’ve never thought to share the idea on the blog until now!
We’re 7 weeks into the school year already and so far, things are going quite well in the world of 2nd grade, Kindergarten, Preschool, and Pre-Calculus! 🙂
Today I’m sharing a peek into our week — what I’m reading, what I’m purging, what I’m baking, what the kids have been up to, our weekly meal plan, and lots of cute pictures!
Over the course of my life, I recall very few meals that did NOT end with dessert… just a little something sweet to finish the meal — even if we weren’t actually hungry anymore (most of the time, we were not).
This trend of enjoying dessert after every meal continued into adulthood, up until this past summer when Dave and I decided to try something different…
Surprisingly (to me) I get quite a few questions about the Whole30 diet — many from readers who assume I’ve already completed a Whole30 challenge (nope!)
I have read and learned quite a bit about the Whole30 way of eating over the past few years… but I am far from an expert. So instead of me sharing what I don’t know, I thought this might be a great “Reader Question” — I’d love to hear from those of you who HAVE completed one or more Whole30 challenges, as well as from those of you who tried but didn’t finish!
Dave and I both thrive on routine and structure — and for the most part, our children do too. However, there is just something about a special surprise or a fun change in plans that can instantly cheer up even the gloomiest of days.
These special surprises and change in plans are usually very simple, very easy to pull off, and they are almost always free. I call it “Upgrading the Everyday”… and I try to do it at least once every day.
Summer is here… well, almost! Nora has 2 more days of school left and then the “lazy days” of summer are officially here!
Come read about what we’ve been up to these past few weeks, some of our upcoming summer plans (we’re trying camping for the first time!), and all the food I’ve been making and baking (I got a sourdough starter!)
Since summer is just around the corner (YAY!) and kids will be home for lunches again, I thought it might be good timing to share some of our favorite EASY at-home lunches.
Our lunch options are much more limited than our dinner options, but we still have enough variety ready to go each day that we don’t get bored or feel like we’re eating the same things day after day.
I recently shared some of our freezer meals creations on Facebook, and many of you asked me to share a list of the meals we were ACTUALLY eating (with links to the recipes). So that’s what I’m doing today!
These 10 meals are all ones I’ve made for our family in the last 2 weeks, pulling most (if not all) of the ingredients directly from our freezer for fairly quick and easy week night meals — perfect for this busy time of year!
When it comes to eating whole grains, the first thing almost anyone (myself included) thinks of is… yeast breads! However, yeast breads are often fairly time-consuming for the average home cook with 832 other things to do each day.
If you aren’t big on the idea of baking your own breads but still desire to incorporate more whole grains in your diet each day, you will LOVE my list of 15 non-yeast bread ways our family eats whole grains EVERY day!
For the last 5+ months, I’ve been cooking, baking, and eating whole grains every single day.
I won’t bore you with too many details… but I WILL share a super simple way to substitute whole grain flour for all purpose in almost any of your favorite recipes — giving you more fiber and more nutrients with very little hassle or extra effort on your part!
