Come check out her big girl undies, her hilarious potty training one-liners, and how we managed to (fairly easily) potty train our very stubborn little girl.

Nora: One Year After Food Therapy

posted by Andrea | 05/21/2014 | 19 comments

Exactly one year ago today, this tired, stressed-out mama and her overly-anxious little girl walked through the doors of our second round of food therapy (after the first round failed miserably).

I honestly can’t believe how far we’ve come in just one year… and I hope this post will offer some encouragement to anyone else struggling with high needs children.

Nora’s Food Journey: My thoughts after 21 months of nursing!

The whole feeding process has been a VERY long journey for Nora (and for me) — and one I promised I would talk more about.

So since I’ve gotten mass amounts of emails asking for more information about our “feeding journey”, I figure I better squeeze in this post before Baby #2 arrives and I need to start all over again!

Nora’s $40 Daniel Tiger Birthday Party

posted by Andrea | 12/3/2013 | 31 comments

Instead of shopping on Black Friday, Dave and I hosted a little Daniel Tiger birthday party for our big two year old.

It turned out so cute, and I’m pleased to say I pulled off the whole party (including dinner for 16+ guests and gifts) for less than $40!

Get ready for some cute Nora pictures in today’s post… because our sweet, spunky, sassy, “siwwy” (silly), big blue-eye girl is TWO… going on 22.

Can you believe it!

Mama’s Girl: Our journey with a high-need baby

Life with Nora has been a struggle for me from the first moment she was born… and after 17 long months, we finally started to realize some of the reasons Nora is so difficult.

Not only is she way too smart for her own good, she’s extremely high needs and has severe sensory issues — all of which make it almost impossible to parent her like a “normal” child. But we’re slowly figuring her out…

Nora @ 18 Months

There are SO many things I could share about Nora since her 15 month update — I’m not even sure where to begin. Yes, she has grown inches and gained pounds, but it’s simply amazing how much she has learned these past 3 months.

She’s a little girl now — and I love it!

How to Make a Personalized Alphabet Book

posted by Andrea | 04/19/2013 | 43 comments

A couple weeks ago, I shared a photo collage featuring just a few pages from a personalized alphabet book I made for Nora. And from that day on, I’ve received question after question asking how I created the book.

Today’s post is quite long, but if you’d like to learn how to make your own book (or if you just want to peek at Nora’s book) you’ll definitely want to keep reading!

My Girl and Her Shoes

posted by Andrea | 03/21/2013 | 28 comments

One of Nora’s first words (after “no” of course) was “shoes”. She said it very clearly too — “sooos”. Nora LOVES her shoes, so much so that she’s has a fit if she can’t wear the shoes she wants to wear. So we make a game out of it — I pick her clothes, then she picks her shoes.

I’ve already learned to pick my battles, and Nora’s shoe choice is not something I’m willing to fight about 🙂

Cute baby alert — Nora is 15 months old today so even though I’m not doing monthly photos anymore, I decided to share some of my favorite pictures from the past 3 months!

We celebrated Nora’s first birthday over Thanksgiving weekend, and I’m sharing a bunch of pictures — and a few tips that helped me keep the entire cost of her party under $50!

I’d love to hear any of your tips for birthday parties on a budget!

Today we’re celebrating Nora’s first birthday with both Dave and my immediate families… so since you all can’t celebrate with us, I figure I’ll just share a bunch of cute pictures and her 12 month updates with you!

Today We Are Thankful…

Our sweet baby girl celebrates her first birthday today… and although it has not be an easy year, we are so, SO thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving, Friends… and Happy FIRST Birthday Nora!

Nora @ 11 Months

Nora is 11 months old today!

She’s still not even close to sleeping through the night; she still doesn’t take naps; she still doesn’t eat… but she sure is cute, so we’ll keep her 🙂

Nora @ 10 Months

10 Months — Nora is officially in “double digits”, and honestly, I can’t believe how much she has changed since last month. Looking back over the past 10 months, I would say that we’ve seen more changes this month than any other month!

Nora @ 9 Months

It’s official, Nora has been alive “on the outside” for as long as she was alive inside of me — however, the 9 months outside sure seems like a lot longer.

Nora has learned a lot over the past month — and, as you’ll see by the list of milestones below, she’s is quite “advanced” for her young age 🙂
