As many of you know, I’m quite frugal in my approach to, well, EVERYTHING! I love clipping coupons, finding the best deals, and stretching my dollar as far has I can.
However, with Nora around, it’s a bit more challenging to make time to clip coupons and find every deal. I’m sure those of you with small children and/or busy lives can relate!
If you’ve ever wished you could spend less on groceries but still feed your family healthy, nutrutious meals, then today’s giveaway might be JUST what you’re looking for!
Karen McLaughlin from Abundance On A Dime wrote a cookbook, Cheap Appétit: The Complete Guide to Feeding Your Family for Less Than $400 a Month (While Eating Better Than You Ever Thought Possible) which includes over 125 kid-tested recipes using basic, inexpensive ingredients. Karen claims that the recipes and strategies inside her cookbook will help most families decrease their grocery budget by 40-60% *without* using coupons!!
Cheap Appétit will teach you:
- How to organize your pantry so you never buy food you don’t use again
- How to shop efficiently and on a weekly basis, reducing daily trips to the store
- What basic, inexpensive ingredients you need to always have on hand to make tasty, nutritious meals
- How to dramatically reduce your grocery bill, food wastage, and spoiled leftovers
- How to use everything you buy
- How to shop locally and make your local purchases last all year long
- How to stretch your food dollars and still eat healthy and delicious food
- How to easily do simple things, like bake your own bread, without a lot of time and effort
Sounds pretty good doesn’t it!

One of my many favorite frugal meals is a meal that is partly made in a slow cooker and oven. The beef casserole contains a roast (made in the slow cooker) with beefy onion soup mix, a box of stuffing mix and mozzarella cheese. The beef, stuffing and cheese are layered and then baked for approximately 45 minutes in the oven. I love the combined taste and of course, a vegetable is served with it!
