Many of you already know about my obsession with old farmhouses! I’ve dreamed of living in one for as long as I can remember.
And one of the many things I love about our old farmhouses is the mature landscaping. Even though our yard is not nearly as nice as it could be, I have fallen in love with the HUGE hydrangea bushes on the north side of our house.
They are absolutely stunning and currently in full bloom!
Do you see our cute little porch swing peaking out from behind the hydrangeas??
This is the first time I’ve ever had hydrangeas {one of my all-time favorite flowers} and I can’t wait to start bringing in big bouquets for our dinning room table.
Oh, and here’s a sneak peak at another little corner of our backyard — a bit overgrown, but SO colorful!
The simple pleasures of summer!

I envy you your lovely mature garden – it looks absolutely stunning! And just an idea to go with those beautiful bouqets you plan on your dinning room table : http://glorioustreats.blogspot.com/2010/07/hydrangea-cupcakes.html

Hydrangeas are my favorite. We were so blessed to have a yard full at our disposal for our wedding. The flower lady wasn’t sure if it would work, but I insisted on using the flowers from my husband’s grandmother’s yard…It was beautiful and extra cheap!

Oh that sounds lovely! We had lots of hydrangeas at our wedding too — but we unfortunately didn’t get them for free 🙂

Beautiful! My mother’s a Georgia peach (now living near me in Alaska) and she absolutely adores hydrangeas. Especially the blue. Of course she can’t grown them up here, sadly.
That last picture floored me! Looks like you have some truly beautiful property.

Simply beautiful….the flowers and your lovely, welcoming green yard. I only have one hydrangea plant. My mother had them lined against the wall of our home but she had shade. I have little to done shade. I have erected an arbor and thrown palm fronds on top of that to provide shade. It is just enough to keep my plant alive and depending on the year and the weather, they are alternately spectacular and sad. It is so hot this year they are looking a little weak and wilty but I love them in every color….especially the purple ones which I will have to buy.

Andrea, you’re a woman after my own heart – hydrangeas are also one of my most favorites! I have one bush in my yard (we have a tiny townhouse yard) and it is also in bloom – I have already enjoyed a bouquet for the last couple weeks – glorious!!!! You have a lovely yard 🙂
