Last year at this time, I was hugely pregnant, I had already past 2 of my 3 due dates (my third due date was November 18th), and I was ready to be done. I was super excited to meet our baby girl, but also super nervous as I really had no idea what to expect (which was probably a good thing!)

I’ve learned a lot over the past year… and even though I have no desire to relive this year over again, I can attest to what every other parent proclaims — time really does fly!

I think Nora is about 7 hours old in this picture — if only she still slept that much!

So in honor of Nora’s first birthday {and my first year as a mom}, I want to offer one of my all-time favorite “mom things” for this week’s giveaway — the GlamourMom Nursing Top.

    My favorite thing was our Graco Plug In Swing! No more batteries! We had an older swing that sucked batteries out of our budget like crazy! When it quit, I was excited and knew I couldn’t do without a swing. It has worked so well with all my other kids (we have four, another on the way). So I decided if we get another it has to plug in. Wow, it is awesome! It even plays music and has a vibration seat. Love it! Love it! Love it!

    My favorite new baby-related (for mom) product was Dr. Newman’s nipple ointment!!! Oh, in those first few weeks of nursing … OH IT HURT, and this nipple cream was awesome! You can get it made at a local compounding pharmacy, for anybody that wonders, or LLL folks probably know about it. Our local breastfeeding center (DC) sells it… ahhh so good! Oh, and when I found the glamourmom tops like this, I was pretty happy, too… but not the price!! OUCH! 🙂 Gotta pay for quality!

    I don’t know if it’s my favorite, but I love those Velcro wrap blankets for newborns. Very helpful in winter.

    A bassinet with wheels was awesome for us when my daughter was born. We just wheeled it from room to room.

    A breast pump.

    I pump as well as feed and can usually get some freezer supply built up at the beginning when my baby is not eating much. Helps so much a couple months later when life is busy!

    My favorite thing for new moms isn’t a product but rather a service.

    Cook a new mom a week’s (or more) worth of meals. Watch the baby so she can sleep. Do her housework. Do her grocery shopping. Watch the older kid(s).

    There are many nice things that make a new mom’s life a little easier but lending a helping hand means so much more.

    The miracle blanket and ultimate sheet saver are wonderful! And I wear nursing tanks daily. I would LOVE one of these!

    My favorite item for the newborns is the Aden & anais blankets that can be used to swaddle the baby. 🙂

    My favorite product is one I only learned about after I needed it, but several friends have attested to-breast-shaped hot/cold packs for use when engorged. I’ll definitely have them when my next baby comes.

    I would say a great gift fir a new parent is diapers and a few home made meals.

    oh! What a wonderful giveaway! I just had my 3rd baby on Monday and totally agree with you: a well fitting nursing bra/tank is the most important thing a mama can have. When you’re comfortable and feel attractive (or at least not frumpy!) it goes a long way. I think the other awesome gift for a new baby is diapers :).

    I just had my first baby back in october and so far I would have to say my homemade moby wrap and nursing cover are my absolute favorite items. I love them!

    My favorite baby product out there has to be The Miracle Blanket. We are pregnant with #4 and our first was EXTREMELY colicky and the miracle blanket helped me keep my sanity!!

    I am expecting a little girl in February so I’m not sure what my favorite will be but I loved registering for those cute newborn onesies!

    I’ve heard so much about these and hope to give one a try with my precious bundle expected in January!
    With my first baby I worked outside the home full time and loved the hands free bra I got to allow me to do other things while pumping: reading, makeup, hair, etc.

    I love the Moby wrap…it’s a life saver for busy moms with fussy babies and multiple things that must get done at the same time!
