After FIVE years of running my own business, I’ve come to realize that I need to be able to work anywhere — not just at home in my office.

There are times when I work from a client’s home, from a coffee shop or other restaurant, in the car, outside on a blanket with Nora, and various other places around town.

Sometimes it can be stressful or seem a bit disorganized because I’m not always working from one place, but usually the pros outweigh the cons… so I try not to complain! However, because I often work from various locations, I try to keep a “mobile office bag” filled with my on-the-go essentials so I can quickly get out the door without worrying about leaving something behind.

Some of the items that stay in my “mobile office bag” are business cards, file folders, headphones, paper, pens, water bottle, batteries, and various chargers.  Then when I’m packing up to go somewhere, I add in my phone, computer, and a few snacks. It seems to work well for me to store everything together and have it ready and waiting when it’s time for me to head to a client’s home, to a speaking engagement, or to a blogger’s meet-up.

    As someone who has to drive 1 hour round-trip to work everyday, I love the opportunities when I get to work from home. Stay in my pajamas all day and get some housework done also!

    I work out of the home in 2 different office so I’m always drag too much stuff with me. I need to down size what all i bring b/c i don’t’ use most of it. I’m still trying to make a home office but it is not working out yet.

    When working on my blog, I bounce between my kitchen when cooking, my deck for photography and I often have to become mobile when I am not able to connect to locally to an internet source.

    My favorite place to “work” is also outside. Last night I chilled outside and worked on a nalbinding project while my kids biked up and down the sidewalk.

    I currently work in a hospital (I am a pediatric physical therapist). But when I did home care therapy, I loved to sit outside in the shade to make my phone calls, do paperwork etc.

    This is awesome, and I could definitely use it! My favorite place to work, outside of my home, is at the library. I know—boring, right? But I just really love the quiet. I get so little of it with my kids at home. I also love to work at Starbucks, as cliche as that is.

    I work outside the home and for me my favorite place to work is there at the office. While it might not always be distraction free, I like that when I leave and go home my work is left there and I can switch my mindset back to ‘home-mode.’ I have a very difficult time working from home because I always feel like I have to be in ‘work-mode.’ In fact, I know this is true for me because I worked from home for two years and it was very difficult for me to ever feel like my work was done because it was right there in my house. I find that I very much prefer to go to an office outside my home to work.

    My favorite place to work is on my deck. It takes me away from looking at stuff that I could be doing inside the house and let’s me focus on what I am reading or studying.

    I work outside my home, but my favorite place to work is out on my patio. Nothing beats leaving a tad early to get stuff done in the quiet of my house, out in the sun, with a glass of iced tea! Productivity bliss!

    I work outside of the home but when I am at home working on my projects, I like to be in my little nook in the basement. We have it all set up with all my “stuff”, a tv and radio (if/when I want to turn them on…silence is golden!), a chair, and I am only steps away from my family when they need me. Works for me!
