Congrats to: JoAnn (glecc@…)
Look for an email from me shortly!
This time of year, my favorite type of get-together is one that happens outside… and it usually includes grilled food!
Since Dave and I are in the middle of renovating our kitchen, we’ve been cooking all our food either in a slow cooker, in the toaster oven, on our griddle, or on the grill. And any time we have company over, we head outside.
One of the reasons we purchased our house was because it had such great potential for outdoor entertaining. We have an acre of land, a huge front porch, a large patio with fire pit, an outbuilding in case of rain, and a nice little deck right outside our office.
I have big plans for our little deck — and even though it’s not as cute as I’d like it to be {yet}, we’ve been sitting out there and enjoying the warm weather almost every day for the past several weeks.
One of the main things I’ve wanted to add to our deck {and other outdoor living spaces} is lighting… but lighting can be expensive, and we have “bigger fish to fry” right now.
However, I recently came across Jenesis Products, a local Michigan company who specializes in battery-powered motion-sensored lighting for indoor and outdoor use. They have a fabulous line of motion deck lights that are the perfect addition to any outdoor space… and since there’s no electrical wires needed, I could simply install them in about 10 minutes!
{note: this is not our deck — but their pictures looked so much cooler than mine!}
Obviously, these exterior lights could be used for much more than just illuminating your deck or patio. You could also use them near your garage door, on your front walk-way, on fence posts, around a veggie garden, etc. The possibilities are endless for these deck-marker lights.
Here are some of the product features:
- Automatically turns on in low light (at dusk).
- Has a low and high light option.
- Quick and easy mounting with adhesive pad or screws.
- Weatherized to resist moisture.
- Will operate for a year {or more} on one set of 3 C batteries.
Pretty simple if you ask me.
Here’s a video that goes into more detail and really shows you how these lights work.
So if you love outdoor entertaining as much as we do, you’ll definitely want to enter today’s giveaway!

I would use these on our awesome, yet dimly-lit deck – this would be a better alternative to bringing out one of our floor lamps to help light things up ๐

My husband and son have been working hard on our back yard at Sandy Pines. They finished the decking last summer and this summer my 19 year old son (Dave had him in class at Calvin) put in a beautiful brick patio for us (Dave would have been proud of all the math he used to design it)! All we need now is the lighting ๐

I plan on building a deck and these light would be AWESOME! It’s really dark out there at night. It would be great to be able to see 4 feet in front of me without having to turn on the over head lights and attracting bugs.

We are rehabbing a house and hope to be able to move in soon. It has a fabulous deck, and with the amount of work we are doing inside, deck lighting isn’t on the radar in our budget. So…these would be a very welcome addition!

We have a great deck but never used as much as we have this year. Why? because we changed things up and made it a place we LOVE! First, we used indoor/outdoor carpet to cover the surface – goodbye yearly painting!! Second, we put up a “tent-like” structure – now we have shade! ๐ and lastly, we put up a bottle opener on one of the posts which makes opening glass bottles well, just fun!!! Having additional lighting would be great! Hope I get picked! ๐

We are just beginning the process of building a new home…these would come in very handy!

I have a teeny tiny wooden porch where I like to sit and eat ice cream while relaxing after a day of taking care of mom. I usually sit in the dark because the outdoor light is too harsh. That these lights are made in the great state of Michigan, is like having homemade fudge sauce on my Mackinaw Island fudge ice cream. I’m new to your blog, about two weeks now. It’s lovely.

We are in the process of getting ready to pour concrete for our whole back patio area (with cash my husband earned umpiring baseball games this spring/summer!), and these lights would be a great addition for that area! Thanks for the great giveaway!

I would use them to light our back entry. It is impossible to see anything after dark!

I would use these on our deck. Our dog would run by them to go down to take care of business and we would have to turn the light on! ๐
