It’s day 9 of my 11-in-2011 challenge and I’ve got some “NEW” news to share…
I love the idea of newness. I love the idea of trying new things, learning new information, experience new things, setting new goals, etc. I love the idea of change…but I don’t always follow through on my ideas.
Can you relate?
How many times have you wanted to try something new, but didn’t for one reason or another? What stopped you? Was is time? Money? Fear? Laziness? Ability?
Goal #9 = Try Something New
After all, could there be a more appropriate time to try something new?
Here are a few NEW things I’m trying this year…
NEW House:
For years, I’ve been dreaming of the farmhouse I would own “someday”. That dream is now a reality as we purchased our “NEW” farmhouse and moved in a few days before Christmas! We are so excited for all the NEW projects we plan to tackle over the next few months.
NEW Blog:
I had the idea of starting a “farmhouse” blog even before I started Simple Organized Living — and even before we had a farmhouse! However, I never did it. I made all kinds of excuses {not enough time, not a nice enough home, not enough “know-how” etc. etc.} However, on January 1, after learning lots of NEW website skills, I launched our NEW blog FarmhouseLove.com!
NEW Services:
It’s been great watching my organizing business grow faster than I ever thought possible! As it grows, the demand for my services has reached much further than West Michigan — and much further than I can physically drive!
So, last month, I ventured out of my comfort zone and launched an entire line of NEW “virtual” services that will allow me to work with many NEW clients across the United States and beyond!
NEW Opportunities:
As my website continues to grow and expand, I have developed NEW relationships with other websites, blogs, online businesses, etc. And just recently, I signed a contract to become the NEW Site Editor for Life.YourWay.net. This is an amazing opportunity for me, and I’m SO excited!
I hope to try even more NEW things as the year progresses, and to encourage you to try something NEW as well.
Let’s start with your “bucket list” {you do have a bucket list don’t you?}
Do you want to…
- Learn an new language?
- Learn how to make a new variety of pie?
- Learn how to grow and can your own fruits and veggies?
- Learn how to braid your daughter’s hair?
- Learn to play the piano…or any other instrument?
- Start up a business?
- Start your own website or blog?
- Start a non-profit group?
- Start a new out-reach program or ministry at your church?
- Start a new family tradition?
- Join a new committee?
- Apply for a new position at work?
- Look for a new job?
- Venture out of your comfort zone?
- Run a race, marathon, triathlon, etc?
- Travel to a specific location?
- Become a mentor?
- Become a one-car family?
- Become a minimalist?
- Change your diet?
- Live debt-free?
- Plant a vegetable, herb, or flower garden?
- Tackle a home renovation project?
When you decide what you want to try, do a bit of research, find someone you know who’s already done it, ask lots of questions, make time for your new activity, save up some money {if applicable}, and DON’T be afraid to fail!
What NEW thing will you try this year?

Great post… I totally needed to read it today!
I’m coming to a “crossroads” or sorts in my life and have the opportunity to try several new things this year. I’m a bit apprehensive, but after reading your post, I’m definitely inspired to give it a shot!

Love this post Andrea! I have a lot of things I want to do this year. Failure is always something I have struggled with but I feel like I am starting to realize that I have God given abilities that need to be used! So, here are some things I want to and will accomplish in 2011….
1. Getting certified in Zumba
2. Trying to get fabulous sponsors for my blog!
3. Starting a business venture in Decorating and giving advice on ways to decorate your house!
… I could go on and on!

Thanks Maria!

Andrea –
I am loving your 11 in 2011 goals! This will be my second year blogging. This year I really want to monitize my blog, gain a broader audience and relaunch my organization business.
I love reading both your blogs each day!!

Lisa, congrats on year 2 of your blog…that’s an accomplishment in itself!
If you’re serious about monetizing your blog, I would suggest following http://www.bloggingwithamy.com she simplifies the entire process and is always coming up with great new ways to make money from the web.

I love Amy’s blog! I am working through her 29 blog success tips.
I just spent hours on the Life… Your Way site. Will you be editing the whole site, or one of the section contributors?
🙂

Lisa, I’ll be the “site editor” — for the entire site!
It’s quite an opportunity for me to work with such a wonderful blog, and Mandi {the owner} is an amazing woman.
