Pizza is one of our favorite weekend meals. We almost always have pizza for a quick meal on Saturday or Sunday night.
And while traditional pizza from restaurants or the frozen food isle can be greasy, unhealthy, and costly; homemade pizza is a quick, simple, inexpensive, nutritious meal that should please the entire family.
I’ll be honest, I usually buy refrigerated Pillsbury pizza crusts {because I can get them for about $0.50 on sale and with a coupon} however, my goal for this year is to try making my own crust…I think I can do it!
INGREDIENTS:
Here are the ingredients I used for this pizza…but feel free to use whatever your family likes {or whatever you have in the house}
- 1 refrigerated pizza crust — I bought a thin crust variety
- 1 c. pizza sauce — either homemade or store bought
- Pepperoni & ham — enough to cover the pizza
- Chopped onions, tomatoes, and peppers — enough to cover the pizza
- Fresh Basil — chopped
- 1 c. Mozzarella cheese {more or less if desired}
DIRECTIONS:
I’m not sure if I really follow any specific directions…but in general, I bake my pizzas for about 20 minutes at 450F. I don’t have a pizza stone so I just bake my pizza on a cookie sheet covered in parchment paper…and it turns out delicious every time!
We usually have a salad or cut-up veggies with our pizza…and it’s great for lunches the next day!

Mozzarella cheese…bake it per instructions
chop tomatoes and lettuce to add to your slice
Messy good!
Spinach, Ricotta cheese ,and garlic is the best.

Looks like a great recipe! We always make home made pizza as well and make the dough for our crust in a bread machine. I’ve grown to like it better than takeout because it’s healthier and cheaper.
Megan, the sauce recipe we use is 1 small can tomatoe sauce, 1 small can tomatoe paste. Mix until smoothe and add itallian seasoning and garlic powder or whatever other seasonings you like. Very simple and always tastes great.

Thanks for including me! We love homemade pizza at our house. I really need to find a good homemade sauce recipe though. You should definitely try my crust recipe. It’s so easy, and it’s great because you can freeze the dough and let it thaw during the day while you do other things.

Megan…I think I’m going to try your crust tonight!
Thanks!

I had completely forgotten about how we used to make English Muffin Pizzas as a kid. Now I’m hungry for them! Thanks once again for pulling from my recipe box – have a great weekend, Andrea!

Andrea, we sure do things very similarily…only I don’t make my bed every day….yet. 🙂
We make homemade pizza almost every weekend. We make our own crust and generally either make a BBQ chicken pizza with Sweet Baby Ray’s original sauce, chopped chicken, mozzarella and gouda. We also like making our own red sauce and putting ham, pepperoni and pineapple on top.
We have a super easy dough and sauce. We can get a pizza in the oven within 15 minutes from start to finish. The ingredients are so easy to keep on hand so we can invite friends over and throw together dinner really quickly.
Here’s my recipe for dough and red sauce.

thanks for the shout out! I LOVE pesto pizza. Yours looks great too – I’ve been thinking I should make some homemade crusts ahead of time and freeze them, but it’s so much easier to just buy the pre-made.
