Simple Microwave Jam – You Can Do This!

posted by Andrea | 03/12/2011 | comment

Yes, I know…it’s only March and fresh berries aren’t even close to “in season” — at least not in Michigan. However I did see the very first batch of rhubarb at the store today…spring is almost here! Even so, it’s still possible to make a small batch of homemade jam TODAY. I guarantee you can do this! Recently, I came across another way to make really small batches of jam in the microwave {yes, the microwave} …and it only takes a small amount of […]

It’s true — not only do I love the end result of a clean house, I also really enjoy the cleaning process. And one of my most-loved cleaning activities is vacuuming. How I Organize My Ideas

posted by Andrea | 03/9/2011 | 2 comments

source I often have so many ideas floating around in my head — ideas for house projects, ideas for my business and website, ideas for dinner, ideas for gifts I could buy, things I should do, errands I have to run, etc. etc. However, the more ideas I have, the more overwhelmed I start to feel. And the more overwhelmed I feel, the likelier it is that I will forget my ideas. It was overwhelming! So I Organized My Ideas. Read all […]

The Many Uses for Dry Milk + Printable

When I got married, my church hosted a “food shower” for me. Everyone brought in their favorite recipe and the non-perishable ingredients to make the recipes. It was awesome! Not only did this shower fill my recipe box with a bunch of simple, tried-and-true recipes; it also stocked my pantry for months! Over the past 5 years, I’ve made most, if not all, of those recipes; but there is one recipe I use on a weekly basis… It’s a “recipe” for […]

Home Renovations on a Budget

posted by Andrea | 03/8/2011 | 5 comments

It’s no secret that Dave and I are in the middle of a pretty big home renovation project right now. More than a third of our house is completely gutted and we’re just FINALLY starting to round the corner from the demolition phase into the “putting it back together and making it look nice” phase. I’m definitely anxious to see the finished product but we’re committed to taking our time, doing it “right” the first time, AND staying on budget — which is a lot easier said […]

For the next two days, I’ll be attending the Hoover International Home and Houseware Show, meeting with Hoover executives, seeing the latest and greatest new Hoover products, and meeting the other “Hoover Insiders”! Exciting stuff 🙂 What the heak is a Hoover Insider? I’m so excited to be a Hoover Insider… which […]

Hearty Ham and Potato Soup

posted by Andrea | 03/5/2011 | 8 comments

A few weeks ago we got our first taste of spring. All the snow melted, the weather was in the low 50’s and the sun was shining. We fired up the grill, made a bunch of salads and ate lots of fresh fruit. Then it snowed — a lot! So I came back inside, made lots of rich desserts and a few more batches of soup. Isn’t crazy how weather affects our food choices? Or maybe it’s just me! One of […]

My New Favorite Cookies

posted by Andrea | 03/2/2011 | 12 comments

I love fresh-from-the-oven cookies…but I don’t always have the time to to mix and bake cookies {especially at the rate we plow through them!} So sometimes I mix up a bunch of cookie dough and freeze it, other times I bake and freeze whole cookies. But there are still other times, when I simply reach for a box…or in this case, a bag. It’s just easier that way! I’m not above a good store-bought mix! I know it’s not the […]

Increasing Blog Traffic via Facebook

Ok friends, I’m branching out on a limb here and changing up my content a bit. But don’t worry, it’s just this ONE post…for now! I wasn’t even sure what category to file this post under, so I opted for “Clutter Control” because I think social media and website stats can be “cluttery” and confusing issues for lots of bloggers — including myself. But I’m trying to simplify the process… I promise! My Experiment: Lately, I’ve been experimenting with different ways […]
