Every month, I write several guest posts for other blogs. Here are a few of my favorites from this month…
Embracing Summer as a Small Business Owner
Working inside all day long can be draining — especially if it’s a beautiful sunny, summer day outside.
And speaking as a small business owner, I know how difficult it can be to take vacation/personal days (or even just a long lunch) if you’re the boss AND the only employee!
Even if you do have a handful of employees, summer is often the time whey THEY want to take off too — which means you’re left in the office to cover for them.
So if you’re stuck working overtime, here are a few simple ways you can embrace and enjoy your summer.
How do you embrace these summer months?
Boost Productivity with a Flexible Schedule
Over the past few years, I’ve noticed a new trend in many workplaces — and it’s a good one (at least in my opinion as a productivity fanatic!)
I’ve noticed that many employers are now offering the option for employees to set up a “flexible schedule” that works better with their own family, home life, personal schedule, AND with their most productive time of day.
Here are a few fleixble schedule options…
Not only will a flexible schedule allow you to work when it’s most convenient for you, it also makes it possible to schedule your work time for when YOU are most productive.
Have you ever taken advantage of a flexible work schedule?
Do You Make Mid-Year Goals?
There is always lots of talk about “setting goals” at the beginning of the calendar year and even at the beginning of the fiscal year — but have you ever thought about setting a few new goals in the middle of the year?
Goals are a great way to boost productivity, hone in, focus, and create more excitement — which are just a few of the many reasons I LOVE setting goals!
I’m in a pretty good habit of continually setting personal goals for myself, but sometimes I forget to give myself new business goals to work towards all year long.
Here are a few steps I follow to make sure I stay on track with my goals.

I had to opportunity to work flexitime after my son was born. I was working as a lecturer, so only had to be there for my lectures and had to fix times to be available for students. I could leave at around 2 and took home certain admin things, like papers/essays to mark, etc. It helped a lot, with a new baby at home (I had a carer at home in the mornings).
