Giveaway #23: Plan to Eat – 3 Full Year Meal Planning Subscriptions
I am a huge advocate for meal planning – not only to help stretch our small grocery budget, but also to simplify and organize our weeknight routine {and honestly, would doesn’t need to stretch their budget or simplify weekday meals?}
If you are like me, then you’ll LOVE Plan to Eat’s simple, electronic, and really convenient online meal-planning services — that you can accomplish in 3 quick steps.
#1. Import, Organize, and Share your Recipes.
Not only can you type in all your favorite recipes and access them from any computer with internet access, you can also search and IMPORT recipes from your favorite blogs or cooking websites to make meal planning that much easier!

What is this “meal planning” you speak of? I guess there is no planning here…

I do a quick visual of what I have in the fridge, freezer and pantry. Then I peruse my recipes and plan most of our dinners for the week. I don’t usually plan breakfast or lunch because breakfast is just cereal a majority of the time and lunch is often leftovers.

I love cooking, it’s my way to relax and do something fun. I just make what sounds delicious to me at the moment. I might plan out some meals for a couple days at a time, but usually I just through something together.

Unfortunately, my current meal planning strategy is to look in the cupboards and fridge at dinner time and think of something! I’ve been meaning to do a meal planning system and have never gotten around to it yet.

Around 5:00, I start thinking about what I’m going to make for dinner. Then I look in the freezer and see if my thoughts match what we actually have. It ususally doesn’t! So around 5:30 I come up with something… 🙂

Whenever I give my self a pat on the back for being organzied I simply have to look at my menu planning to bring me back to realtiy. Currently my menu planning consists of me sitting down on Monday morning and trying to come up with simple, good and cost efficient meals and then making my list and going to the store. I love to cook but the daily meal planning has taken away the joy!

Currently, I have an Excel document with all of our menu options. Each week I plan the next weeks meals based on what I have in the cupboards and fridge that needs to be eaten. It works well, but I love the idea of Plan To Eat’s easy accessibility from any computer which I can’t do with my current system.

My current method is by the seat of my pants method mixed with a thinking about the week on Sunday and shopping for the ideas for a few meals at a time.
Michelle says
My meal planning consists of what I’m in the mood for that evening.

Um, meal planning is rather hit and miss around here. Sometimes I plan a whole week’s worth of meals but many many times it’s “let’s see what I have in the freezer”.

Our meal planning is more of a menu roullette….we have about 7 dishes we make regularly and just grab one of them. It is a mess.

My meal planning is kind of determined by my hubby’s schedule. Being a med student, sometimes he’s home lots, and sometimes he’s not. So, when he is, we make sure to do a weekly plan for dinner meals. When he’s not, it’s more of a “pull whatever out of the cupboard/fridge” type of plan!
