This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to Kari (thestablers@…)!!! Out of 289 entries facebook comments and blog comments} you were randomly selected as the winner of the Silhouette SD! I’ll be in contact with you soon or you can email me with your shipping information.
I’ve never been big into crafts — mainly because I can’t stand all the clutter they bring with them. Fortunately I’ve found ways to express my creativity without accumulating lots of “stuff”. For example, I really enjoy painting furniture or reupholstering furniture and then selling it on Craigslist. This gives me a chance to be creative, it brings in additional income, and I rarely have more than a few cans of paint and one bin of fabric to “clutter up” my home. I love looking at other people’s crafts and I’ve always liked the idea of paper crafts {cards, tags, scrap-booking, etc.} but couldn’t ever justify the amount of stuff I would have to accumulate in order to get started. But then I came across the Silhouette SD.
What is the Silhouette SD?
The Silhouette SD is an electronic cutting tool that connects to my computer allowing me to cut fonts and images in cardstock, vinyl, heat transfer material, and more — all with one little machine! The Silhouette plugs into my computer just like a printer and includes software to create custom vinyl lettering and other designs using any font already installed on my computer. That means I don’t need to buy {or store} any extra expensive cartridges!
What can it make?
Honestly, it can make all sorts of things! I’ve only had mine for a week so I haven’t even come close to trying everything out… but here are a few pictures to give you an idea.
But one of the coolest things the Silhouette can do {at least in my opinion} is the custom vinyl lettering feature — which means I can make custom vinyl wall art for much cheaper than buying it from the store. {Plus I can make EXACTLY what I want using the fonts on my computer}
Another thing I love about the Silhouette SD is that their website has all sort of FREE classes, printable instructions, and creative ideas — you know, for those of us who aren’t so naturally creative! And the final thing I love about the Silhouette SD is that one Simple Organized Living reader is going to win a FREE Silhouette SD and 3 rolls of heat transfer material.

I do make cards, but my favorite is whatever our Sunday School craft is. I teach 2-, 3-, and 4-year olds. We have a small class, but oh what fun with glue, string, their photos (I still have an old Poloraoid…..we are low budget), cotton balls, glitter, crayons, stickers, etc.

I love crafts, unfortunately I don’t work on them all that often because I don’t have a nice space to do so. I LOVE to scrapbook but honestly have done 1 page since the kids were born because of the mess and the fact that I need to put it all away so that the kids don’t get into it. Even if I don’t win a Silhouette I think I’m going to look into one. If I could scrapbook without having all of the mess I would LOVE that. Thank you so much for all of your advice, posts and giveaways.

My favorite paper craft is scrapbooking because it leaves memories. I like to look back at my scrapbooks when I’m arguing with my hubby and it reminds me of why I love him : ) Plus scrapbooking time is fun time with friends. So you see it is multi purpose!

Once upon a time I scrapbooked…and then life happened and I hardly ever have time to even think about the possibility of starting again! ๐ I’d love to learn some tips on making cards and vinyl wall art, though, if I were to be lucky enough to get a Silhouette! Very cool!

I love making cards, especially with my children. We also have a lot of fun creating artwork out of paper, like collages and by layering. I would love to have a Silhouette SD. I am sure I would use it for these crafts and then have a blast learning all the other fun projects I could accomplish using it.

I have to say scrapbooking is still my favorite paper craft, but MAN talk about some clutter! I did not realize this machine avoided the needs for extra dies, what a great tool.
