Congrats to: Reva (yamoo1988@…)
As many of you know, we’ve had quite the time trying to get Nora to sleep… EVER! However, one thing we’ve been doing every night she was only about 2 months old (in attempts to help her sleep better) is a relatively simple bathtime / bedtime routine.
We personally feel like this helps to calm her down and “signal” that we’re starting the bed-time process — even if it does take her 3 more hours to actually fall asleep.
It doesn’t work every night, but this girl LOVES her baths, so it’s worth it!
Every evening after dinner, Dave gives her a nice warm bath and lets her splash around for a bit. Then we bring her into her nursery with the lights down low, change her diaper, put lotion on, and get her PJ’s on. We read a couple books, I feed her, and she falls asleep.
Then we pray that she STAYS asleep 🙂
The whole process takes about 30 minutes and it’s a great chance for Dave and I to each spend a little one-on-one time with Nora. Plus I feel like we’re instilling some sort of routine into her day — which is definitely good for her, and it sure makes me happy.
Isn’t she cute!
For one of my shower gifts, I got a big set of Johnson & Johnson bath-time products — and we’ve been using them every night for the past 9 months. My favorite is the Lavender bedtime bath products because I love the smell… or maybe it’s because I’m hoping it will make Nora sleepy.
Either way, baby bath products are a super practical (and clutter-free) gift idea for any new mom, or anyone you know with small children. And for a limited time, Johnson & Johnson is offering a special Baby Essential Pack that would make such a perfect gift. The set is available only at Walmart and Walmart.com through September 14.
The Baby Essentials Special Pack includes Johnson’s Baby Lotion, Johnson’s Head-to-Toe Wash, Johnson’s Shampoo, Johnson’s Baby Bubble Bath, and Desitin Creamy.
Oh, and just because Nora loves her bathtime SO much, I’m giving away a huge set of baby bathtime goodies — which includes the Johnson’s Baby Essentials Pack.

Sarah says
Our routine consists of bath most nights, followed by lotion, pj’s, brushing teeth and reading stories.
Amanda says
I love the lavendar body wash. I’ve tried other “flavors” but nothing quite calms us both down like the purple cap!!
Susan says
My kids love “tubby time” everynight, we have a silly song we sing as go in, we sign “hands up” as we get undressed, we wash up and splash and play. I love connecting with them during this time. We “make” cookies/cake/tea in the water and my daughter points out all her boo-boos (bumps from the day).
I love Johnson and Johnson producets and you’re right, Lavendar is the BEST scent!!!!
Kelly Guerin says
I read books and sing songs to my 3 kids… π
Sharon says
My favorite bedtime routine was giving little baby massages. I loved to get them dried off after a bath, diaper them up, then gently rub lotion into their sweet skin. I also loved reading books, singing songs, and saying prayers with them. Now that my oldest is almost 3, I love having little conversations with him about our day, answering questions about God and life, and talking about what we have planned the next few days. Of course, kissing my sweet boys goodnight is the best.
Laura Harris says
My babies are older, but I have a beautiful niece that would enjoy this!
Melissa says
My best friend is going to be a new mom again, for the second time! This would be a perfect gift for her!
Su says
My favorite was the baby wash with the purple cap. I’m not sure if it’s lavender or chammomile scented. It smelled sooo good! And, yes, it was very gently on all the babys’ skin! thx
Jackie says
Although we have 3 kids, our youngest is almost 2. I would give this to our neighbors across the street from us who are expecting their first child in about 3 weeks.
Patricia Crowley says
I would give this to my sister for her boys!
Michelle H. says
My favorite routine was a bath with the lavendar soap. Love the smell! Then I would rock and sing to my babies. My sister just had a little boy, and I would give the bath stuff to her π
Gretchen says
Our oldest has loved baths since she was born. If she was extremely fussy, a bath would calm her right down. Plus, it was a great time to sing with her. Now, we have to be careful about using the word “bath” because if she hears it, she heads straight to the bath tub and wants in. π Now our favorite bath time fun is blowing bubbles in the water. π
Kathryn says
We like to fill the bath with bubbles and alternate toys; fish, scuba diver and boat, block train, or dinasaurs and splash around hiding in the bubbles. π
Christine says
My sister in law is pregnant! I’m going to be an auntie π
Carrie Spisak says
I am pregnant with my first child and look forward to bath time with my new little girl!!
Kathy says
Yes, Nora is adorable. Since we have grandkids, I would give this package to my step-granddaughter Kennedy who is 1 year old. Thank you!
Mackenzi says
Our baby loves baths but when she was little she would get really cold so we set up a “warming station” for her. This included putting the towels in the dryer and wrapping her up in them right after we pulled her out of the tub. She loved it and it made bath time more enjoyable for everyone.
Faith says
I always enjoy singing to my kids at bath time and bedtime.
Kimberly J says
I love the smell of the lavender wash too!! Bathtime is a special time to relax and get my daughter’s mind ready for sleep.
Erin says
My son loves to ‘paint’ in the bath
Michelle says
We do the same routine! Works for us!
Christi says
I LOVED bath time when my kids were little. My favorite thing to do was to warm a towel in the dryer for each of them, lift them out of the tub, and wrap the warm towel around them. Good times π
Vickie says
This would definitely be for grandbaby #6 – probably, no really our final one!!
Lorak says
We like to sing to Beto and tell him something we enjoyed doing with him that day.
Library Momma says
I like snuggling with my kids, how long will I have to do that? Someday they will be on dates instead….:(
Mandy says
Reading Goodnight Moon and Snuggle Puppy.
Shawnita Mack says
I would love the Johnsonβs prize pack for my little munchkin. Our bedtime routine HAS to include a nightly bath otherwise my little one (7 months) wont sleep for very long. But we normally don’t include toys.
Abby says
I still follow a similar routine with my 2 year old and he is sure to remind me if we forget a step! We love to use Crayola bath colors now too! I would love towin!
Laura M says
Im pregnant with my first so this would be a perfect start for us! I will be remembering these bedtime tips!
Julie S. says
We adopted our daughter from China. We took Praise Baby CD’s with us, and she has fallen asleep to those since her first night with us. We tried to build a sense of bedtime routine and rhythm even before we got home. We loved the idea of her resting and relaxing to songs about how very loved and welcomed she was and is. That little peanut is now 6 and still loves the comfort of those CD’s.
And bathtime fun is definitely part of the wind down fun!
Lindsay says
I loved to watch them splash in the water and then get surprised when they splashed themselves in the face. It always produced some pretty comically facial expressions!
Lesley says
My twin daughters and husbands have a new baby in each family. I would share this gift with them. I agree, lavender is so calming at bedtime!
Kim says
They love to “swim” in the bathtub! I love letting their imaginations run wild and come up with all sorts of water activities while they get clean!
Dawn dk says
Cuddle and feed them and hum or sing songs quietly.
Sarah Joy says
We don’t have much of a routine, but my son LOVES bath time. And we’re expecting a little girl in 8 weeks and I think I’ll be much more likely to lotion her up after bathtime and have her smell like sweet lavender goodness π
melissa c says
Reading Brown Bear Brown Bear to my little man. His favorite part is at that end when I use family names with the colors…. “red mommy”, “blue sammy”….he giggles and giggles!
Jennifer says
I’ve always loved reading to my children as part of their nightly routine.
Kimberly says
I love doing educational things with my son, like the ABC’s and counting.

Our children’s bedtime routine is just about the same as in your family only that our youngest two are 2 1/2 year old twins. These two are now old enough for us to say “It’s Bedtime” after reading a story-they know that’s their que. They give good night kisses to mommy, daddy & their older sisters then walk into their bedroom. They are still in their cribs and are not crawling out-yet-so, they stay put until morning.
