The weather here in West Michigan has been in the 50’s and sunny — spring is almost here!
Yes, I know this warm weather won’t last, but I just couldn’t pass up an opportunity for strawberry shortcake. It’s my official “spring-time dessert”… and I just love how simple it is.
For the first 24 years of my life, I ONLY ate strawberries with baking-powder biscuits…period. None of that store-bought pound cake, angle food cake, or any other inferior substitutes. It had to be baking-powder biscuits!
But then, this past summer, I made the most delicious lemon pound cake — seriously folks, it’s really THAT good! And when I tasted my first bite, I immediately thought, “I should try this with strawberries”. And I did.
It was delicious!
So last weekend, I had a chance to invite a bunch of friends over to see our new house and to try out a bunch of Kraft products…thanks to Kraft’s Philly Dinnertime Dilemma House Party.
I made three different family-friendly dinner recipes {I’ll share them next week} and these fabulously simple strawberry shortcake cups!
The Recipe:
OK friends, get out your pen and paper… this is a really complicated recipe.
Step 1: put a few sliced strawberries in the bottom of a small bowl or cup
Step 2: crumble a half slice of pound cake over the strawberries
Step 3: add a few more strawberries and any strawberry juice
Step 4: top with a scoop of instant vanilla pudding
Step 5: top with a scoop of whipped cream
Can you handle that?
Don’t they look pretty?
I even made the dessert cups in the morning and kept them in the fridge until 8:00 at night — and they still tasted great.
OK, now for a few party pics…
Since our living room is currently full of wood flooring, I opted to have the party in our heated out building.
It was the perfect setting and a great opportunity to break in our new space!
The inside is definitely NOT decorated to my taste, but it will do for now.
We had so much fun that I actually forgot to take any pictures of “real people” but I promise, they were here!
Goodie Bags!
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention… Kraft sent me a bunch of products for my friends so each person got some goodies!
Thanks to Kraft House Party for asking me to host this fun event. And thanks to all my friends and relatives for coming!
Stay tuned for more REALLY simply dinner recipes coming in the next couple of weeks.

Yes, house warming parties are always fun! And yes, this dessert would be a huge hit — but I suppose I’m bias 🙂
