If you’ve ever done any type of home renovation project, you’ve probably thumbed through piles of magazines, scoured the Internet, and walked the isles of home improvement stores searching for inspiration and ideas.

Or maybe I’m the only one! 

I absolutely LOVE reading about other people’s ideas, learning helpful tips and tricks, drooling over amazing before and after pictures, seeing the lastest products, and dreaming of what my house might look like if I implemented even just a few of the ideas in my ideas book or in my array of Pinterest boards.

So as you can imagine, I’ve been doing lots of “research” for our kitchen renovation… which means I spend a fair amount of time each week searching for new ideas, looking for deals on products we want to buy, and drooling over all things “kitchen”.

Don’t tell Dave, he thinks I’m always working when I’m at my computer 🙂

Anyway, because I’m a home-renovation junkie, I’m excited to share a fun little design sweepstakes sponsored by Apartment Guide.

Unfortunately they don’t have a kitchen round, but the voting is currently open for some pretty sweet bedroom designs… like the one featured below.

By voting, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a $10,000 grand prize or one of eight $250 weekly prizes to decorate your own home. You can also find design and décor tips from Apartment Guide, and featured bloggers to help you design a room that’s uniquely you.

    I get design inspiration from all different sources – Pinterest, magazines, other people’s homes and just my surroundings.

    We have a small house, so I find that Ikea’s displays really help me think in a space saving, innovative way.

    I get most of my inspiration from looking around when I’m visiting friends’ homes….parade of homes…or magazines (when I’m in a waiting room). I think I’d have to have 6 homes to use all of the ideas I have!

    I get my inspiration from sitcom tv shows. I always love looking into the backgrounds of the scenes and most of the time i see something that inspires a change in my own home

    I love pinterest too. We are building a house so I also have been browsing over at Houzz.com. Can seriously lose a whole afternoon over there.

    Like you, I drool over pinterest and magazines for inspiration. But I also love to walk through antique stores and thrift shops for ideas … My favorite thing to do!

    I find inspriartion in Johnathan Adler’s facebook page and website. He has great understanding of how to mix classic with contemporary. All his designs have such clean lines. His designs are reflective of his personality, and he doesn’t seem to design things just fill up the home. His home decor style is that it should be fun, untilitarian, purposeful, colorful, and reflective of the homeowner. I hate homes that are filled with things, just because they’re expenisive and have a designers name on them. What you own should reflect your personality and tell more about the people living there, and Johnathan Adler understands that.

    I get my inspriation from my aunt who is an amazing interior designer in the Washington D.C/NYC areas. She does amazing things with limited and unlimited budgets!

    I find inspiration anywhere… stores, internet, magazines, colors, etc. You can see one thing/color/idea and decorate an entire space based on that one thing.

    I love browsing through Pinterest for design inspiration – I always find the best ideas! And, of course, shopping is a pretty good source as well. 🙂

    I get my inspiration from catalog’s, the internet and just browsing in stores! A lot of time I find a small cabinet, or piece of art and that becomes the piece I design around.

    I LOVE using Pinterest. but I find so many different Blogs that have so many creative people. I love to also just surf the web then post all the ideas to Pintersest.

    I love perusing Pinterest and reading blogs for inspiration. Houzz is an invaluable resource, as are the forums on gardenweb.com.

    Pinterest has been my number one source of ideas for the past 6 months. Prior to that I have folders with pages from magazines (mostly Better Homes and Gardens) that caught my eye.

    More recently Pinterest, but just wandering my favorite shops and watching my favorite HGTV hosts works for me too!

    We like to do our own work and when we are getting ready to do a project. We go to home improvement stores frequently and when something goes on sale or on clearance for a fraction of the price we purchase. We drove to three Lowes to get the vanity, top and mirrors we liked on clearance for our bathrooms (ours and a rental). We like a get the best price and quality. We use discount, project zero percent credit cards and match prices between same stores different counties, different stores, etc. We found flooring at one Lowes cheaper than our Lowes and own Lowes matched the price. We talk about our ideas with anyone we meet and get the pros and cons of the material we are using. We look at magazines, friends’ and families’ houses to get ideas and make them our own.

    It was tough for me to decide between the Coastal Hideaway or the Industrial Loft design, but I ended up voting for Coastal Hideaway. It would be a great, relaxing bedroom!
