UPDATE: This giveaway is now closed.
I’m really excited about today’s giveaway — partially because it’s a great book that totally fits with my quest for simple, organized living… but also because I know BOTH of the authors!
I’ve worked closely with Mandi from Life… Your Way and Tara from Deal Seeking Mom for the past 2 years and can attest that they are both amazing moms, wives, business women, bloggers… and just really fun ladies!
So, of course, I knew their first book, All in Good Time: When to Save, Stock Up, and Scheduled Everything for Your Home — would be a fantastic read. Between Mandi’s organizational and time management skills and Tara’s uncanny ability to find every deal, there is something for everyone inside the cover of their book.
Since we are planning to renovate our kitchen this summer, the text on the front cover “Remodel Your Kitchen” immediately caught my attention. After a quick glance through the table of contents, I flipped to page 19 (where the remodeling advice starts) and was pleasantly surprised to find they had included MY tips and tricks for remodeling on a budget!!
I almost forgot that they had asked me for a few tips way back when they were in the writing process… so cool!
I also love that this book is such a quick read — like a “how-to” manual for simple living! Last week (on our Spring Break Staycation) I shared that I started reading this book — and I actually finished it that afternoon. It’s the type of book that you can just hop around to different chapters based on what information you are looking for, and there’s always something new you can pick up.
So if you’ve ever wondered when the best time to “save, stock up, and schedule” anything in your home/life, I’d highly recommend reading this book. It’s available at major bookstores and, of course, at Amazon.com… but you might want to wait to see if you win my giveaway first!

Well, I’m new to home-ownership and it’s a learning curve. I spent so much time on my studies, I never learned the art/science of house-keeping and maintenance. This year’s summer project is gardening and my mom told me a tip……fertilze on the holidays: Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day and you won’t forget! We’ll see!
Alyssa says
My best tip for saving is to only stock up on items you will actually use when they’re on sale and with a coupon!

Best way to save? Make it automatic — automatic payments to IRA, automatic transfers to savings accounts.

I shop the sales at our local grocery stores and also stock up at Costco.

My best tip to save is NOT to stock up, but only buy what you need when you need it. In my 7 years as a professional organizer I have seen so much waste as a result of too much stuff.

Keep a backup copy of your electronic schedule! Never know when that electronic is going to go bust and you’ll lose everything. Or better yet, work with the tried-and-true paper schedule.

My best tip is to evaluate purchases and don’t buy unnecessary items…no matter the cost. Also, save up for big purchases when possible.

I like to compare prices in ads and then use coupons and stock up. For scheduling, I find a monthly calender to work, then I break my schedule down to weeks, then to days. Our lives are pretty routine, so it’s not hard to forget.

Buy produce when it is in season. If it’s a really good sale buy a bunch, because you can freeze/can it for later!

Never pay full price for anything!!

Stock up on supplies in advance. Like baby supplies when you pregnant ๐

Watch the sales and buy in bulk
mary says
to stock up i wait for a sale and at least a coupon, better even is sale at target, plus manufacturer and store coupon..
Kristi says
My best tip is to keep a price book. This way you stock up when items are at their best prices and you also see the cyclical nature of the sales. I also liked you on FB.

My best tip is to have a debit card that pays you rewards for shopping with partners. 95% of the time, even if I can’t get a coupon or sale price, I can at least get 1-5% back for shopping online through that program. I don’t have to have extra memberships or logins either.

Shop with a list–and stick to it! That and stacking coupons (mfgr’s + store’s)

My favorite scheduling tip is to write my weekly schedule on a chalkboard I have hanging by the door. I map out the whole week and it is easy to change if needed. It is in a place where I glance at it all the time and so i rarely forget an appointment! Love it!
laura couto says
My tip is for paying bills, I always write everything down on a paper I keep in my checkbook with due date and minimum payment and check it every pay day and see what is needed to be paid and do then cross it off the list. Keeps me on track and let’s me know I didn’t miss anything. (Liked on Facebook ๐

Meal planning saves money and time and I’m not frazzled trying to figure out what’s for dinner at 5 o’clock. This looks like a great book!

I try never to pay full price for anything, so hit rummage sales all year. Also, keep an eye out for bargains around the holidays. I only buy what I really need, not just because it is a deal. Although, if I get anything free, I throw it in a box and give it away at some point.
