UPDATE: This giveaway is now closed.
Congrats to:
- Autumn (autumnab@…)
- Verity (veritysa@…)
When we started our kitchen renovation, I was adamant that I wanted LOTS of light.
I hate dark kitchens… and our old kitchen just had one light in the middle of the kitchen and one light over the sink. We were always standing in our shadows and moving things around to get more light onto the cooking surfaces.
So I’m excited that our new kitchen has a whole bunch of lights. We have recessed lighting, pendant lights, under cabinet lights, a special light just for the stove… AND thanks to my friends at Jenesis Products, we even have lighting for the INSIDE of our cabinets!
Actually, these lights can be used almost anywhere you need a little extra light but don’t have an electrical outlet — like a closet, pantry, storage room, under the stairs, under a bathroom vanity, or even in a garden shed.
We have one light under our sink, one light in our lazy-susan, and another light waiting to go in our appliance garage (once the cabinet company finally delivers it!)
These In-Cabinet lights are actually really bright, and they easily illuminate our large lazy susan cabinet, which means I can quickly find whatever I’m looking for. And since we have our lights set on “automatic mode” they automatically turn on whenever the cabinet door opens (and then automatically turn off after 20 seconds!)
Here are a few more product features:
- Automatically turns on when an open door is detected without any wires or switches.
- Magnetic mounting for easy removal and battery changes.
- Light source angle is adjustable for optimum illumination.
- Back-lit on/off button to easily find the cabinet light in the dark.
- Switch to select automatic or manual mode.
- LED light source never needs to be replaced.
- 1 year battery life in automatic mode, 100 hour battery life in continuous use.
And here’s a 3 minutes video clip that demonstrates how the light works.
As you can see, there are 101+ uses for these in-cabinet lights, and since they are SO simple and easy to install, I’m fairly confident that almost anyone could benefit from these lights.

LIGHTS OUT!!!
In addition to the previously mentioned areas in most homes, I have a few variations of locations for your weekend giveaway. Having the power outages in BFE is not unusual. Waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to find your way through your house can be a bit frustrating. (finding the bathroom in the dark… no problem!) I would appreciate having one of these inside my nightstand drawer.
Other ideas:
1. Inside doors of entertainment center (can’t find that ONE DVD in the dark!)
2. Inside (near) electrical breaker box (If the power is out & you can’t find a flashlight… a light in this location would be helpful in evaluating the cause of the outage)
3. In the laundry room between the garage & main house. This always seems to be the darkest room of house with the heaviest ‘traffic flow’. Thinking safety first when you are coming and going with your hands full of stuff coming and going the fact that this little light would come on and shut off automatically makes this a definite “gotta have”… BONUS! doors of entertainment center (can’t find that ONE DVD in the dark!)

4. Grandma used to have a large round endtable with two doors that would open where she would sit and sew. Even with a light on the table it was always difficult to see inside much less find anything… this light would have been ideal for that location.
Good Luck everyone!!!!

I could always use more lighting in the kitchen. We are just beginning to remodel our 70’s kitchen. So you can only imagine the ‘neat’ old lighting currently in our kitchen! 🙂

We definitely need light in our bottom kitchen cabinets. We are hoping to redo the kitchen at some point…but for now we have very old, very home-made cabinets that make organization a challenge! Can’t wait to someday have a new kitchen…but for now these lights would be great. Thanks for sharing about your kitchen renovations…it has given us a lot of great ideas!

These sound like a fantastic idea! Our house has all kinds of dark nooks and crannies….I love the lazy susan idea! But I have a large set of cabinets under my snack bar that I underutilize because it is so dark! Front closet….oh I could go on and on.
