    One of my favorite birthday gifts was an overnight stay at a B&B that was part of a lighthouse on a little island out in the middle do San Francisco Bay. Totally amazing!

    A dear friend took me to a very nice salon and we both got pedicures, her treat. Fabulous! Getting pampered is great, but getting to sit and chat with my friend was the best part.

    My most memorable gift was a card given to me by my husband which read “Happy birthday mom” decorated with tiny finger prints of our new born baby. Looking at that card still brings tears to my eyes as I had been gifted the privilege of being a mom after 10yrs of struggle with infertility.

    It’s hard to recall many of my birthday gifts…but I think a favorite would have to be my favorite meal cooked by my husband (boyfriend at the time – we’d only been dating two years or so at the time). I loved the thought and time he put into it – I felt like one lucky lady!

    One very memorable occasion was my surprise 30th birthday party. I walked in to a restaurant, thinking I was having dinner with two of my sisters, and was shocked to see my entire family there! They continued the surprise by giving me some very special gifts that were truly from the heart that I cherish still, five years later.

    A surprise spa day and full hanging out day with one of my best friends who I had not seen in 7 years. It was so fun, after the full day we talked until after midnight, so I literally spent my whole birthday with her.

    This year, I decided to take the business of giving myself the gifts I rally wanted so for the entire month I gave myself what I wanted: bought a new purse, got a haircut, went out to a restaurant and got a free desert, free coffee from starbucks, etc. It was very rewarding and didn’t cost that much!

    My favorite birthday present was the Kitchen-Aid standmixer in my kitchen. I still don’t know how my family managed to afford it that year, but it was certainly a fun surprise! Of course, now they get to reap the rewards of it whenever I’m inspired to bake something yummy! 😉
