One thing I’ve always said is that I won’t let my kids have too many toys — LOL!
Obviously, I know in the back of my head that I really won’t have total control over how many toys my children end up with — especially if other people buy them the toys 🙂
However, I’ve always had a weakness for wooden toys — and specifically wooden blocks. Nora already has 2 full sets of wooden blocks… but that didn’t stop my from oooing and aaahing over these absolutely gorgeous blocks from the Sincerely Abi Etsy Shop.
I suppose I like wooden toys because they fit my “farmhouse style”, they are timeless, they are more quality than plastic, and they usually don’t have a gazillion little pieces that will get lost or broken.
And these handmade wooden blocks are just the cream of the crop in my opinion… they are all so unique.
Abi hand-makes them, each with different colorful paper and a gorgeous distressed finish. They look like they could have been my grandma’s blocks!
I can’t wait for Nora to get a little older so she can start playing with all her blocks.
Aren’t they just adorable!
If you share my love of wooden toys, then make sure you enter today’s giveaway… and you’ll also want to check out Abi’s blog for lots more craft inspiration!

I actually have a question about the blocks. They look like they are mod-podged. Is that okay for babies to be mouthing & chewing on? Does it become gummy again if they get to much slober on it? They are super cute, but I want to be sure they are safe ๐

My favorite children’s toy are crayons — I love coloring myself!

I love almost all of the Melissa and Doug brand toys. We’ve purchased many over the years and they last forever and my kids love them. My youngest son is 6 and loves action figures. I love the imaginary play that goes with any figure or doll. Thanks for the great give away!

My favorite children’s toys (I can’t pick just one, sorry) are simple dolls for imagination play and building toys (blocks come first, but then grow into more flexible things like legos and ideally wood and real tools)

I love the Fisher Price little people sets – they’re great for pretend play!

My favorite toy for my 6 month-old is his Vulli Sophie the Giraffe. He adores his Sophie, and she’s super cute.
My favorite toy of my daughter’s is the play kitchen she’s recently decided she is too old for. We’re going to sell it on Craigslist (thanks for the tips, Andrea!) and let her use the money for something a bit more suited to her current tastes.

I’d have to say Lego blocks (or these adorable wooden ones!!!) or the Tupperware Shape toy…we don’t have one, but if I’d find one, I think I’d have to give in! ๐

Those are incredibly adorable. I currently have a 6 month old, so my favorites are all baby toys. We don’t go anywhere without Sophie the giraffe from Vulli.

I love bins and containers. So much fun to watch little ones learn how to put things in and take things out. Plus they store the toys when not in use!
Cathy says
I made sure we had some great timeless wooden pieces–I loved going to my grandparents and playing with a doll cradle and high chair that my mother had when she was small, it seemed so strange and fascinating to me! I want that for our daughter’s children so we did invest in a few quality wooden toys and puzzles that can ‘stick around’ for the grandchildren some day.
