There are lots of goals and resolutions made on the January 1.
Did you make one this year?
Yes, I know it’s July — but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to make a few new goals for the rest of the year.
Personally, I feel that one of the most important goals you can make is to simplify and organize your life (but I’m bias!)
The truth is, no matter what your goals are, I bet that organization is at the center of those goals. If you don’t apply organizing principles to the things you wish to do, your results are going to be haphazard.
So what can you do to create a simple, more organized life?
Here are a few ideas to help you get started:
1. Clear the clutter:
Whether it’s clutter in your bedroom, basement, email, paper clutter, or mental clutter; it’s all taking up precious space that could be used for more important things in your life.
2. Balance your schedule:
A schedule that’s all work and no play is just as bad as a schedule of all play and no work. Strive to achieve a balance in your schedule so you have time for work, play, family, goals, friends, and all the other things that are important to you.
3. Put it on paper:
If it’s just in your mind, it’s floating around up there with everything else you have to think about. Organize your ideas on paper, make them concrete, and finish them.
4. Prioritize:
Have a minimum of 3 important things to complete in every day and do them in the order of importance. If you don’t complete one of them, it should be on your ‘Priority List’ tomorrow.
5. One in — two out:
If your home or office is already cluttered, make it a rule that for every item you bring in, two have to go. By the end of the year, you’ll have lightened your load tremendously.
With just a few steps, you can reduce your clutter and get on your way to a simpler, more organized life.
Once your life is more organized, you just might accomplish some of your other goals as well!
What are your organizational goals for the rest of this year?
