Our Monday started VERY early when Nora decided she really didn’t need to sleep in… I guess she doesn’t realize that Spring Break is not the time to wake up so early! Someday, probably when she’s in high school, I’ll remind her how she loved to wake up early as an infant!
{Nora playing with her new musical toy from Aunt Stacey — she looks upset, but she really does like the toy!}
I tried Greek Yogurt for the first time {I got a free coupon} — LOVE it! Normally it would be a bit too expensive for my frugal budget, good thing I know how to make my own!
We all did a little reading in the morning… guess who’s reading each book 🙂
And yes, Nora always has to hold the book while we read!
We’ve been eating from the freezer for the past couple of weeks {which means I’ve hardly purchased any groceries}. It was getting pretty empty, so we completely emptied out our deep freezer and let it defrost.
Then I went shopping and got some crazy good deals on groceries to restock our freezer. I saved almost $80.00 and only spent $21.00!
I still need to do quite a bit of baking/cooking to refill our freezer, but it will be so nice to have more food on hand again — and I’m thrilled to have the freezer defrosted before our kitchen renovation this summer.
Dave did a ton more yard work in the afternoon… he’s making a pretty good dent in our 10-yard dumpster and I don’t think we’ll have any problem filling it by the end of the week!
Nora and I enjoyed the lovely weather and periodically came out to check Dave’s progress.
Did you notice my new hair cut? Dave and I both got hair cuts today!
Nora also helped me clean out our master bedroom closet… she doesn’t look too excited, but I know that deep down, she was thrilled to help me get more organized!

AFTER:
I know it might not look like a huge difference, but remember — Dave and I share this closet and we don’t keep clothes anywhere else but in this closet and our dresser… so we can’t get rid of everything!
Dinner (purchased with coupons of course)… remember I’m not cooking this week 🙂
We love bath time! (someday I’ll do a tutorial on how to make these hooded towels)
And a yummy snack after nora went to bed… yes there are chocolate peanut butter brownies under all that ice-cream!
Of course, Dave HAD to stay up late for the basketball game… I was sleeping soundly by 10:00. Lots more planned for tomorrow 🙂

I’m looking forward to the hooded towel tutorial! It looks so cozy!

I almost took a double take when I saw those pics with Nora in her green and pink striped pants and matching onesie. My daughter is 7 months and has the exact same outfit. By the way we love Sandra Boynton books too. So cute!

Loved seeing But Not The Hippopotamus! That and Opposites were my kids’ favorite books when they were tiny. They also really loved the Usborne That’s Not My… books. Thanks for bringing a smile to my face.

I found your site by researching how to make homemade granola bars ( will never by them from store again) and have been addicted since. I have been bragging about your site to all my coworkers and have even done some reorganizing and started coupon clipping again. I am a single mom of two and every saving is important. I love the personality you have and so glad you let it shine in your website. I find myself laughing often at your posts. I look forward to all the wonderful things you share and have a fantastic week!!!

I don’t know how I came across it but I love, love, LOVE your website!
I am pregnant with baby girl #2 (and guess what? Her name’s Nora! Smiled big when I saw your darlin’s name is Nora) and have spent months exhausted and not feeling well. I’m starting to feel better and better and getting that bit of energy back (hallelujah!) and finding your site came just in time as I LOOOOVE organizing, decluttering, saving money, easy solutions, and making life simpler. Less is more!
Thanks for everything and being your major encouraging self!
Andrea says
Thanks Jessica, Glad you’re enjoying my blog!
Congrats on baby #2… and love the name ๐
I’m sure with 2 children you’ll REALLY need to be that much more organized… but it sounds like you can handel it!

Andrea- Please do the tutorial on the bath towel. I received these as a baby shower gift 10 years ago and they were my favorite towels. My sister just had her first baby and I really wanted to make them for her, but there were not any good tutorials. ๐ Great job on the freezer and the shopping!

We love Sandra Boynton books. That one was my favorite. My daughter and I used to read it all of the time. One day we were reading it, but instead of saying “Hog and Frog cavort in the bog” it said somethingl ike “hog and frog dance in the bog”. I thought I’d lost my mind. Somehow, she ended up with two copies of the same book (I still have no clue where the second one came from) that were exactly the same except for that one verb.
Also, our grocery store always has one brand of greek yogurt on sale, so we always buy whatever is on sale. I tell myself it’s ok since I don’t buy candy, cookies or other sweets. Yogurt is our treat!

I am a huge fan of your site. Thanks for all the inspiration. Good luck on the remodel.

You’re very motivating! Even on your spring break.
With the exception of small cluttered piles around the house, I’ve always been somewhat organized. (ex; I always know where to find something -paperwork, etc.- when I need it.) My problem however, is that once I get to that place, it’s an “organized mess.” haha It seems to be getting worse as I get older. I’m hating that!
I also find that I spend more time READING about organization than actually doing anything about it. (I’m sure some of readers can relate.)
I’ve always been a list writer (LOVE crossing things off), which helps, but have gotten a little lazy about a full daily plan b/c I waste so much time on my computer addiction. (A double-edged sword!)
So I want you to know that I’ve starting using your daily planner printable, modified it for my needs, and it’s really helping! I also started reading your entries on a daily basis for that extra kick of motivation.
So thank you! You’re an inspiration to many!
PS… Nora is adorable! An after-bath towel picture should be required by every mother! ๐ I have one of my daughter almost 25yrs ago and it’s STILL on of my favorite photos of her!
Enjoy the rest of your break… Sue

What are the dimensions on your closet and what storage system are you using?
THANKS!
Andrea says
our closet is just a normal “reach-in” closet. It’s 8 ft. wide.
Here is a link to more information about our closet installation.

You make me want to be a lot more productive on this day when I’d planned to be super lazy (for me). I am going to check out that book ๐
Andrea says
Oh just relax and be “lazy” for a day. That’s what we’re doing today ๐

What a cute haircut! I love following your website – you have inspired me soooo much to get things done around our house!! You have a beautiful home and is in tip-top order. It keeps me motivated to get “things to do” done off of our list and to keep HIS property looking good and in order. Thanks for all your ideas, pictures, etc. You have been blessed with a gift! Have a blessed Easter rejoicing in all the LOVE He has given us!!
Andrea says
thanks Barb — and believe me, our house isn’t always in “tip top shape”!! I hope you have a wonderful Easter too!

Looks like you’re having a productive Spring Break! One thing I’d like to suggest is keeping your frozen breast milk in the “way back” in your deep freeze rather than the door. It will just help ensure it stays properly frozen until you thaw it for feeding. =)

Looks like you are having an enjoyable and productive spring break! Boynton books are wonderful – very durable! My girls enjoyed the Going to Bed Book and I had the Boynton ABC book memorized because we read it so much.
Love the haircut!
Jolynn says
you mentioned a kitchen make over this summer!!! looking forward to watching the progress!! I’m sure you’ve mentioned it somewhere, but are you taking out walls and the whole shabang? so excited for you!!!
Andrea says
yes Jolynn, we’re planning to totally gut the entire kitchen (and knock out a big wall)! Basically, we’ll be making our kitchen and dinning room into one big kitchen. Hopefully all goes “as planned” and we can finish before school starts!
