Congrats to: Reva (yamoo1988@…)
As many of you know, we’ve had quite the time trying to get Nora to sleep… EVER! However, one thing we’ve been doing every night she was only about 2 months old (in attempts to help her sleep better) is a relatively simple bathtime / bedtime routine.
We personally feel like this helps to calm her down and “signal” that we’re starting the bed-time process — even if it does take her 3 more hours to actually fall asleep.
It doesn’t work every night, but this girl LOVES her baths, so it’s worth it!
Every evening after dinner, Dave gives her a nice warm bath and lets her splash around for a bit. Then we bring her into her nursery with the lights down low, change her diaper, put lotion on, and get her PJ’s on. We read a couple books, I feed her, and she falls asleep.
Then we pray that she STAYS asleep 🙂
The whole process takes about 30 minutes and it’s a great chance for Dave and I to each spend a little one-on-one time with Nora. Plus I feel like we’re instilling some sort of routine into her day — which is definitely good for her, and it sure makes me happy.
Isn’t she cute!
For one of my shower gifts, I got a big set of Johnson & Johnson bath-time products — and we’ve been using them every night for the past 9 months. My favorite is the Lavender bedtime bath products because I love the smell… or maybe it’s because I’m hoping it will make Nora sleepy.
Either way, baby bath products are a super practical (and clutter-free) gift idea for any new mom, or anyone you know with small children. And for a limited time, Johnson & Johnson is offering a special Baby Essential Pack that would make such a perfect gift. The set is available only at Walmart and Walmart.com through September 14.
The Baby Essentials Special Pack includes Johnson’s Baby Lotion, Johnson’s Head-to-Toe Wash, Johnson’s Shampoo, Johnson’s Baby Bubble Bath, and Desitin Creamy.
Oh, and just because Nora loves her bathtime SO much, I’m giving away a huge set of baby bathtime goodies — which includes the Johnson’s Baby Essentials Pack.

I always loved bathtime because the girls would immediately get in a happy mood. The warm water relaxed them and we enjoyed some fun playing in the tub. One of our favorite bath products when they were a toddler was the bath paint…..we would paint their faces all in all kinds of silliness. Miss those days!

Our bath time routine is first taking a bath, brushing teeth, read a story/and or church lesson, then prayer and tucking in. We still use Johnson’s soap (off brand) and our girls are 3 and 5. I would love to have another baby and I would use these products for sure!

My favorite bathtime ritual when bathing my children and now my grandchildren was/is to sing a song I made up 30 years ago when my daughter was an infant, changing the words for each child, which goes, “Rub-a-dub-a-dub (insert name) is in the tub, rub-a-dub-a-dee (he/she’s) as clean as can be, rub-a-dub-a-do, I love you, rub-a-dub-a-dub-a-dub-a-do!”

Bathtime was always a team effort. I would wash and hand them off to my husband and he would dry and then I would put the lotion on and get them dressed and we would always put them to bed together. Great memories. I would give this to my cousin who is expecting. ๐
Amy Owen says
My “babies” are all big now although my five year old daughter would probably still enjoy all the items. One of our rituals is just reading a book/brushing teeth/going potty.
OR, I might save it to use as a baby shower present – I always have those popping up! : )

I have always sung a silly little song “peanut, peanut. you’re my little peanut” to each of my kids. My fourth little one is 15 months old and loves to hear it after bath, all wrapped up in his towel. I am due with #5 on Christmas Eve, and I definitely plan on continuing the tradition!
KimH says
My babies are 28 & 30 but I’d love to win the prize for my oldest daughter who is expecting baby #2.
On a side note.. You might think about removing the lavender from Noras life for a couple weeks & see if she sleeps better without it. Some people, me included, often have backwards nervous systems and things that are supposed to calm you down make you bounce off the walls.
Valarian is an herb that is used to induce sleep.. but it acts like speed in my system.
St Johns Wart is another that is supposed to have a calming influence but it has a hugely agitating influence on me. Anyways, its a thought. ๐
Stephanie says
I get his big brothers in bed. Give him a nice warm bath and then when he is done I use the lavendar lotion on him and put him in his pjs and put him in his crib. ๐

I would give the baby care gifts to my wonderful next door neighbors. They are both teachers who just had their first child, a beautiful little girl, Claire. I live alone and they look out for me, and make sure I don’t need anything. Would be nice to give them a little “thank you” surprise.
Rose says
I would give these items to my daughter. She has two little ones, and loves these products!
