We FINALLY got snow last week — and Dave got his first snow day of the year!
It sure looks pretty, doesn’t it?
I’m thankful that aside from a few brief sledding episodes each day, Nora and I are able to stay inside — because it. is. cold!
Where we live, we got over 14″ in just a couple of days (this picture of our driveway is after Dave plowed several times!)
However, since it’s supposed to be in the 50’s again tomorrow (seriously, West Michigan has crazy lake-effect weather!) I figured I better share some pictures of how pretty our farmhouse looks with all this beautiful, clean, white snow.
I took this picture of our back yard…
And then I edited it a bit…
I’m using it as my computer background image right now 🙂
I think one thing I love about a thick, fresh snowfall is that it makes everything look lovely again — the dead spots and weeds in our lawn, the overgrown bushes in front of our house, the dying pine tree behind our outbuilding, the perennials I never cut back, the pile of wood scraps waiting to be burned (still from our kitchen renovation), the dirty siding on the North side of our house — it’s all nearly invisible when covered with fluffy white snow!
Hmmm… I wonder if there’s a way to achieve a similar effect inside 🙂
So even though we aren’t exactly snow lovers, we are enjoying the snow while it lasts — which is probably until tomorrow afternoon!
Happy Winter!

Your pictures are lovely, especially the snow on the trees around your house. We got some snow on Friday here in NC, about 3″ and it was beautiful. Now we’re looking at 72 degrees with thunderstorms on Wednesday. Hopefully some more snow, (they say snow follows a thunderstorm in winter). Nora is just so darn cute! The last picture is my favorite…just look at that face : )

Oh Andrea, thanks for sharing your snow pics! I live in northern VA and we’ve hardly had any snow last year or this year so far (although the kids were off today for a tiny amount of ice early in the morning). We love the snow and wish we could get more of it! I think a fresh snowfall is heavenly ๐ By the way, its’ supposed to be 60’s with thunderstorms here on Wednesday – weird, wild stuff (and it was in the teens and 20’s last week!). Enjoy the rest of winter!

I love snow!!! I love how everything looks so clean (you can smell it)!!! It brings peace and joy at the same time….
Here, in Portland, OR we only get small amounts of snow, that (IF it sticks at all!!!) only lasts a couple of hours… until it rains again! ๐
I’m happy for you right now!!!

Those are gorgeous pictures! We got a couple of inches down here in Indiana and then it rained all night last night.

Oy. Nora looks adorable in that suit.
It’s 70 degrees in Kansas today and we haven’t seen snow like that since early 2011. Last year we had maybe an inch of snow in January and that was it. This year we’ve had maybe 2-4 and that was just in one day with 40 mph winds so it was declared a “blizzard” ha!

I have always lived in MI until we had grandchildren who live in SC. Now we split our time and I miss the snow so much (at least some of the time). Thanks for sharing the pictures!

I didn’t realize you live in the Midwest too? We are in southern Wisconsin. ๐ (For some reason I thought you lived in the south.) Anyhoo, I can’t believe you are getting 50 degree weather!!!! I’m so jealous! ๐ Here in WI, it’s been WAAAAAAY below zero for WAAAAAY too long. I’m done with Old Man Winter.
Don’t the kiddies look so cute all bundled up, though?? That’s one plus side to this weather, I guess..
Enjoy the snow while it lasts!
