Creative Jewelry Organizing Ideas

posted by Andrea | 01/26/2011

I don’t consider myself a big jewelry person, but somehow, I ended up with a pretty good collection! I guess it’s just one of those things that easily accumulates over time. And since one of my New Year’s goals was to purge something every month…I thought my jewelry would be a simple project to start with.

I purged a bunch of stuff and then I got creative with my jewelry storage…here’s what I came up with!

Bracelets:

This old ice-mold is one of my favorite organizing containers {I have three}. I just love the shape. the antique color, the dents, everything! Plus it works great for chunky bracelets and watches.

Ring & Earrings:

I have a really cute, old dresser with two shallow drawers…which now house my collection of earrings, pins, watches, and rings. I keep everything sorted {by color} in antique muffin tins I got from a consignment store.

It’s organized so well that I can even find every pair of earrings in the dark!

Necklaces:

I’m obsessed with wooden ladders. I use a ladder to display blankets and quilts in our living room, I use a ladder to hold my magazine collection, I use ladders as towel bars in the bathrooms, and I use THIS ladder to display my necklaces.

I simply pounded a few nails at different heights and now have a visually attractive necklace storage that also serves as a great conversation piece!

This is my first time commenting, but I’ve been reading your blog for a couple months now and I love all of your organizing ideas.

Just this morning, I was trying to think of some ways to better organize my jewelry. I am a HUGE fan of jewelry and and I have so many pieces. It’s now getting to the point where I have a hard time finding what I have because it’s getting so jumbled up and cluttered. I will be getting rid of a few things, but I’m sure I’ll still have a lot left . Thanks for these great ideas. I’ll definitely put them to use.

    Have a great day!

    Great tips! Here’s another:

Mount a small bulletin board to your closet or bedroom wall and gather some fun push pins. **Use more than one bulletin board if necessary and wall space allows it.** Hang your necklaces and bracelets on the push pins as an easy and adjustable solution to jumbles of jewelry.

Ooo, love the muffin tin idea!

I like to suggest inexpensive ice cube trays to my clients for holding earings! (you can usually get 2-3 for a $1 at a dollar store!)

Oh man! I’m so glad you posted this.

Currently I use something from Pier 1 that resembles this:

But……… I’ve actually been wanting to DIY a jewelry “case” much like this one from bluebirdheaven on Etsy:

I’m so excited! I work at a print company and have access to old letterpress drawers. I’m hoping it will be my Spring project!

You can use a mug rack for hanging necklaces. I like the ice cube tray idea…I have several extras I don’t use. thanks for the ideas
