Merry Christmas!

As I’ve done for many, many years, I’m taking off the week between Christmas and New Years to enjoy a few lazy days at home with Dave and the kids.

But first, I’m sharing a few pictures of our newly minted 3 month old baby girl!!

As we near the end of December, I can’t help but get excited for a fresh start at the beginning of the New Year — especially since the New Year is often prime time for organizing and decluttering (2 of my favorite hobbies!)

If you don’t share my love for organization and would love a little extra help in this department, the resource I’m sharing today might be just want you need to transform your home and life in just 100 days!

3 Steps to a Squeaky Clean Dishwasher

If it’s been awhile since you cleaned your dishwasher (or if you didn’t even know you could clean your dishwasher), I’d suggest giving this SIMPLE 3-step process a try… you might be surprised how much better your dishwasher runs as a result!

My Personal Definition of “Too Busy”

posted by Andrea | 12/20/2017 | 11 comments

Try as you may, there is NO “one-size-fits-all” definition of what is too busy for every single person.

Instead, I’ve come up with my own personal definition of what “too busy” means for me… I have a feeling it might helpful for others to consider as well.

A Peek Into Our Week

posted by Andrea | 12/18/2017 | 39 comments

Our family got hit with the flu, our fridge died, we celebrated Christmas with our kiddos, Clara got her first haircut, I ordered my 2018 planner, and I found the most perfect winter coat!

All this and more in today’s peek into our week!

A Simple Way to Store Extra Sheets

posted by Andrea | 12/15/2017 | 22 comments

Four years ago, I shared a post about why we didn’t need extra storage for linens — mainly because we didn’t have any extra linens! We had a fabulously minimalistic system that worked well for us for several years. However, 4 years (and 3 more children) later, we have a little bit different system.

We now have 2 sets of sheets per bed — but we still don’t need a linen closet to store the extra set. I’m sharing our super simple sheet storage system today!

Although I make soup regularly throughout the entire year, I definitley make more soup during the long cold winter months. And surprisingly, our kids eat soup really well!

If a nice hot bowl of soup sounds like something you’d like for dinner, then the super simple soup recipes in today’s post should give you plenty of ideas!

Increase Your Saving and Investment Potential With Automatic Deposits

posted by Andrea | 12/13/2017 | 24 comments

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — automating our savings and investments has been one of the most important reasons we’ve been able to stick with our lofty financial goals for the past 11+ years.

As we approach another New Year with new goals, I’d encourage you to set up a monthly auto-deposit into a specific savings or investment account. Then commit to leaving that money untouched for as long as you possibly can!!

Our Christmas Decor – 2017

posted by Andrea | 12/12/2017 | 14 comments

For the past several years, I’ve displayed fewer and fewer Christmas decorations — partially because our home is naturally “festive” with all the red and white I decorate with year-round, but also because it’s a big pain with little kids!

However, a few weeks ago, I let the kids decorate the tree all on their own (it was crazy) while I put a few more festive decorations up. It’s not magazine worthy, but it’s good enough for us this year!

Today I’m sharing a simple freezer cooking hack I’ve used for years — but have apparently neglected to mention on the blog!

Not only is this tip simple, it’s extremely frugal, and it could have various other uses in your kitchen as well!

3 Tips to Organize Your Medicine Cabinet

posted by Andrea | 12/8/2017 | 19 comments

One of the mini organizing projects I like to tackle this time of year is to weed through, purge, restock, and better organize our medicine cabinet. I did this a few weeks ago and ironically, 4 of the 6 of us have been sick over the past week (Clara and I have been spared so far!)

Today I’m sharing 3 of my tips to help you quickly get your medicine cabinet organized!

Reader Question: What Are Your Gift-Giving Traditions?

posted by Andrea | 12/7/2017 | 28 comments

Today is Dave’s 36th birthday — he’s officially closer to 40 than 30!

Since we’re in birthday mode around our house (Nora’s birthday was 2 weeks ago) and since the holiday gift-giving season is here, I thought it was the perfect time to post another reader question I got regarding gift-giving traditions… and I’d love to read some of YOUR gift-giving traditions!

A Simple Tip For Making Manageable To-Do Lists

posted by Andrea | 12/6/2017 | 13 comments

Over the last 2-3 months, I’ve regularly accomplished all (or almost all) of my daily to-dos, even with a new baby, the busyness of back-to-school, and all the extra holiday activities.

This is not because I’m super woman and it’s not because I work all night long. It’s simply because I’ve gotten very good at making manageable to-do lists… and today I’m sharing one simple tip that helps me do just that!

I Got Dave to Eat Brussels Sprouts!

posted by Andrea | 12/5/2017 | 15 comments

When it comes to eating vegetables, Dave and I are not picky eaters. We’ll eat (almost) any type of vegetable, but Dave is NOT a fan of cabbage or brussels sprouts.

However, thanks to one of our recent Blue Apron meal deliveries, I actually got him to eat a decent amount of brussels sprouts — and he admitted they “weren’t bad”. I’ll take it! 🙂

How I Organize and Keep Track of My Digital Receipts

posted by Andrea | 12/4/2017 | 21 comments

If you do the majority of your shopping online like I do, you probably get what feels like 10 million emails regarding your various online purchases — when the orders are places, when they are processed, when the products are shipped, when the orders are delivered, etc. etc. etc.

It can feel overwhelming if you don’t have a system. Thankfully, you do NOT need a fancy system to track your digital receipts — I’m sharing my super simple system today!
