posted by Andrea | 07/31/2019 | 27 comments

Over the past few years, I have gotten so many emails and questions asking me to share more about how I prevent burnout.

These questions have been percolating in the back of my brain for months now, and I keep circling back to the ideas of “planning ahead” and “gradual progress”… I’m sharing more today!

posted by Andrea | 07/30/2019 | 19 comments

Over the past week, 3 different people have emailed me asking how Dave and I handle fundraisers for our children.

I know every family and every child is different, so I’d love to know how YOU handle school, church, and/or community fundraisers.

Let’s Talk About My Blog Ads…

posted by Andrea | 07/29/2019 | 114 comments

As many of you may have noticed (who am I kidding, you’ve ALL noticed), my blog has significantly more advertisements over this past year than it did for the first 8+ years.

There IS a reason for this, and I HAVE weighed the pros and cons of the extra ads… I’m sharing more about it all in today’s post!

My Favorite Dollar Store Buys

Not everything at the dollar store is necessarily a great bargain, but there are definitely some amazing deals if you’re willing to browse!

Since we love our local dollar store so much, I thought it might be fun to share some of OUR favorite items to buy on our monthly walks to the dollar store.

How I Know It’s Time to Give Up Naps

posted by Andrea | 07/25/2019 | 6 comments

Over the past 7+ years, I’ve had 1 horrendous napper, 1 amazing napper, and 2 fairly normal nappers — looking back, I can see that they all “gave up” napping in basically the same way — yes, Clara is mostly done napping 🙁

I suppose it’s a little sad to move past another season of life, but I’m pretty excited about how much freedom I’ll have during the day now that we’re not tied to a specific napping schedule!

My Favorite Household Chore

It’s very common to hear about “least favorite chores” or “dreaded chores” — often accompanied by various remedies or tips to reduce the time and effort it takes to complete those chores.

In my experience, it’s not nearly as common to share a FAVORITE household chore… but that’s what I’m doing today!!

Today, I’m sharing 5 of my “quantity over quality” quick-cleaning tips that have saved my sanity and allowed me to accomplish so much more around the house.

Our family loves cookies so I bake very regularly. Whenever I’m short on time, or when we’re feeding a crowd, I almost always make “cookie bars” instead of traditional cookies. They are SO yummy!

Run to the kitchen, make or buy your favorite cookie dough, grab whatever baking pans you have in the house, and I’ll show you how to whip up a batch of these super simple Cookie Bars!

How We Make More Reading Time (and Enjoy Quieter Meals) With Our Kids

posted by Andrea | 07/15/2019 | 46 comments

Last winter, I started looking for ways to fit more reading time in with the kids — mainly because we were getting SO many books from the library each week that it was sometimes tricky to find time to read them all, especially since the older kids often like longer chapter books.

Thanks to a suggestion from Nora, we have now made time for more reading every day AND we’re enjoying quieter meal times! Win-Win!

Why We Turned Our Cell Data Off for 3 Weeks

posted by Andrea | 07/11/2019 | 36 comments

Last month, Dave and I got a notification from Verizon saying we only had 10% of our data remaining — even though we were only a few days into our month!

As as result, we decided to turn our cell data OFF for the rest of the month, both to avoid being charged extra and as a fun (and eye-opening) summer experiment for us!

A Look At Our Outhouse Shed (5 Years Later)

Since our yard is very large, it is nearly impossible to share a “before and after” post about the entire yard — it would take you 2 hours to read!

Instead, I’m planning to select a few different areas to showcase throughout the rest of the summer and fall months. First up is the west side of our yard with the cute little outhouse shed!
