As you gear up for another school year, another busy fall, another holiday season, and all the other many things on your calendar, here are three simple tips that have helped me get back into a routine… and I’m hoping they will help me this year too!

Our Summer… In Snapshots
A Crowded Closet Turned Cozy Corner
At our old house, we had a really awkward back entryway with 3 doors that all opened into each other. I hated it!
So the other day, when my friend Leslie sent me a before and after picture of her crowded entryway, I immediately asked her if I could share the pictures on my blog. The makeover is fabulous and she did it ALL by herself!
Splurging Isn’t Always ‘Extravagant’
For the most part, I would not consider Dave and I to be big “splurgers”. We save much more than we spend and we can almost always talk ourselves out of buying something — especially if it isn’t really necessary.
I certainly don’t think our frugal nature is a bad thing; however, I also don’t think that occasional splurges are a bad thing. In fact, I think splurging is a healthy habit everyone should do from time to time!
BLT Sandwiches… with Peanut Butter
Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato Sandwiches are one of my favorite summer lunches… and Dave likes anything with bacon so he’s usually game for a crunchy BLT at least once a week.
However, if you’ve never tried your BLT with peanut butter, you’ll want to keep reading. I’m sharing my favorite way to prepare this delicious sandwich!
Why You Shouldn’t Compare Your Home to Magazine Pictures
I’m sure at some point, we’ve all thumbed through home decore magazines and wished our homes looked even half as lovely as the stunning homes in those photographs. Or maybe I’m the only one?
If you’ve ever felt disheartened by your home’s lack of “perfection”, I’ve got a real-life story that might just cheer you up!
20+ Organizing Resources for Back-to-School
I know you might not want to accept it, but the school year is right around the corner… which means it’s time to get a few things in order so your year (and your kid’s year) starts off on the right foot. Instead of reinventing the wheel, I thought I’d take a minute to compile some of the helpful back-to-school and Fall organizing tips I already have on my blog {all in one convenient location, just for you!}
Happy “back-to-school” organizing!
11 of my Favorite Blogs
I read a lot of blog posts every week… I follow some of these blogs on Facebook or Twitter, I subscribe to some via email, and I have my phone set up so I can quickly and easily access my favorite blogs whenever I have a free minute or two.
Today, I’m sharing 11 of my favorite blogs, and I’d love it if you’d share a few of your favorite blogs with me!
My Daily Planner: The NEW Customizable Version!
Over a year ago, I created a Daily Planner template for me to personally organize my day-to-day life. It was exactly what I needed, so I shared it with all of you several months ago.
After many requests to offer a customizable version of my Daily Planner, I FINALLY decided to do it! So today, I’m sharing my new, customizable Daily Planner. Hope you love it as much as I do!
Kitchen Updates – We’re Making Progress
Our Experience with International Students
It’s officially been two full months since our international students moved back home to their countries… and I guess we’ve just been so busy with weddings and remodeling this summer, that I never posted anything about our hosting experience.
Well, today is the day… I’m sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly 🙂
5 Lessons From 5 Years in my Own Business
Over my blogging break, I thought a lot about my business — things I love, things I don’t love, things I wish I did differently, and things I wish I would have realized early on.
If you’ve ever had even the tiniest dream of starting your own business, I’d encourage you to read my thoughts… however, I’ll warn you that I’ve included a healthy dose of reality!
How I Organize Our Diaper Bag
I’ve gotten quite a few questions asking what diaper bag we use, what we keep in our bag, and how we organize it.
And while I only have one infant’s stuff to cart around with me — I can at least offer some insight into how we {try} to keep things simplified and organized when it comes to the diaper bag.
Simple, Any-Fruit Smoothies
I’m not sure if there’s anything more refreshing on a hot summer day than a cool smoothie made with your favorite fruits!
Today, I’m sharing an extremely simple recipe that can be adapted to make almost any variety of fruit {or veggie} smoothie — oh, and I’ve got a fancy new blender for “show n’ tell”!
Do You Clean Your Cleaning Tools?
When was the last time you changed the bag in your vacuum? Or, if you have a bagless vacuum, when was the last time your cleaned/changed the filters? Did you even know that your vacuum had filters… and that you had to clean them?
I’m guessing that if you don’t know the answers to these questions… it’s probably about time to “clean” your cleaning tools!
How Do You Work Best?
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been thinking a lot about WHERE I work best, WHEN I work best, and HOW I work best, partially because I’m weird and like to think about things like that… but mainly because my time is limited these days and I need to know that I’m making the best use of my working hours.
I’m Back!
I’m Closing Down My Blog… for 2 Weeks!
Since summer is already half over, and since Dave will be going back to school before we know it, I’ve decided to take 2 full weeks off from blogging.
My hope is to get some much needed rest, cross a few things off my list, have a little fun, and come back with new energy and lots of new ideas to share here on Simple Organized Living!
