In my opinion, Fall is one of the best times to fill your freezer — the cooler weather and shorter days allow me to spend more time in the kitchen, and Nora and I have been enjoying cooking together during the boys’ naps!
However, before I start stashing food away in our freezer for another year, there are a few things I always do first to prepare my freezer for Fall…
On an average day in our house, I think it’s realistic to say I answer upwards of 250 questions… for real!
It’s easy for me to get overwhelmed by all the questions and whining and just say “no” to everything — however, for the past few months, I’ve been working hard to say “yes” as often as possible… and it has made a big difference in how my kids react and how smoothly our days go.
Today I’m sharing an overly-simple message that I KNOW you already know.
You’ve heard it 100 times before, but maybe today will be the day you take action. Maybe today will be the day it makes sense. Maybe today, this message will be just the reminder you need to start simplifying your life!
Written to-do lists have worked wonders for me over the course of my 30 years… but for the last few months, I’ve made a slight tweak in how I make my to-do lists. I honestly never thought I’d notice any difference, however, I’m shocked at how much more efficient I have been as a result!
Last week, I shared 10 reasons to get life insurance; and as expected, I got quite a few questions related to buying, having, and using life insurance.
Since I didn’t feel confident answering all of them myself, I asked the folks at Allstate if they would answer these questions for a follow-up post. They graciously agreed — and I have to admit, I learned quite a bit myself!
I’m excited to share today’s recipe for 10-minute lasagna (yes, I really did time myself!)
It’s so simple and quick to throw together — perfect for rushed school nights!
TRUE STORY: we almost got a dog… 4 days before James was born! Yes, I realize how insane that sounds!
Today’s post isn’t really about getting a dog; however, the realization I came to when considering this “free” dog has a lot of good lessons for other areas of our lives as well 🙂
It often seems that when small, seemingly unimportant tasks catch up with us, the larger, more important tasks start to feel too big and overwhelming for us to tackle — which makes it even easier to procrastinate.
If you can relate, today’s post is a must-read for you!
Over the past couple of years, I’ve mentioned the fact that Dave and I each have a life insurance policy… and every time I mention it, I always get lots of questions about why, when, how much, etc. etc.
Today, I’m sharing why we opted to purchase life insurance… and 10 things to consider if you’re in the market for life insurance.
Earlier this week, I attended a second-hand sale in our area… and since the fall months always seem to bring boatloads of second-hand sales to West Michigan, I thought it might be fitting to share a few of my tips to make the most of your second-hand shopping endeavors.
Apples have been my favorite fruit for as long as I can remember, and I’ve acquired plenty of yummy apple recipes over the years. Today, however, I’m sharing a recipe that tastes (and smells) exactly like a yummy apple crisp, but… there’s not a single apple in the entire dish!
You won’t believe what I used instead!
It’s hard to believe that another month has gone by; yet at the same time, last month’s post seems like ages ago!
A lot has happened since last month — Dave started school, I returned to full-time blogging, and our kids are growing like weeds over here!
Oddly enough, one of the questions I’m asked most often (even more than if I color-code my closet) is, “How do you come up with enough ideas for all your blog posts?”
My short answer is…
For some reason, changing our furnace filters is a seasonal task that I either forget to do, or put off doing because our furnace requires a really random size filter that is not readily available at most home improvement stores.
However, I recently found FilterEasy, an online air filter delivery service — and I’m so excited to share more about it with you. Oh yeah, and there’s a fun giveaway!
With Dave back in school again, I’ve resurrected several of my most simplified weeknight meal ideas in attempts to get dinner on the table with all 3 kids scrambling around the kitchen!
These chicken quesadillas are definitely a family favorite — especially for me as I can get them on the table in 10-15 minutes flat!
Although I still prefer the toddler and preschool stage MUCH more than the newborn and infant stage, I’m happy to say that I’m enjoying my time with James so much more than I ever did with either Nora or Simon.
Maybe it’s because he’s an easier baby, maybe it’s because Nora is older and actually helpful, or maybe it’s because I’m learning to be a “better mom”. Whatever the case, I feel like the third time’s the charm for me 🙂
Although I realize it’s not exactly a “cake”, if you ask me what my favorite cake is, I will always choose cheesecake!
Today, I’m sharing the relatively simple recipe for our family-favorite chocolate chip cheesecake. My favorite part is that it’s almost impossible to mess up the baking time, thanks to a new “trick” I recently learned!
