With the impending arrival of a new baby any day now, I’ve been asked over and over again what types of meals I’m making ahead to alleviate the need for as much cooking later on.
Today, I’m sharing that list!
Today is Dave and my 9-year anniversary. Seriously, time flies!
Since I don’t really feel qualified to give marriage advice after only 9 years, and since I’m not really a “mushy” sentimental type of writer… I thought I’d share some general relationship “insight” I’ve been thinking about for a while now (actually, for many years).
Thanks to the fact that our little 1-acre, 125-year-old farmhouse is SMACK in the middle of a small town, the kiddos and I can walk almost any place we want or need to go on a given day. And thanks to one of our newest pieces of outdoor “gear” we’ve been getting out and about even more!
Come check out our Burley D’Lite bike trailer + double jogger + double stroller in action. This thing is amazing!
Every year, around this time, I start seeing blog posts, news articles, and social media posts that rant and rave about how “spoiled” our kids are and how they apparently expect to be entertained 24/7.
While I fully agree that this generation of children is being raised in a completely different way than I was raised (or any other generation), I often wonder if that’s really as bad as people say… and I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic as well!
A couple weeks ago, we ended up with LOTS of extra baked potatoes after a party we had at our house… and there was no way I was letting them go to waste.
Today’s recipe (if you can even call it a recipe) is a super simple, super yummy way to repurpose leftover baked potatoes — and best of all, it’s something you can easily make ahead of time for a busy weeknight meal!
Ever since I mentioned that we sold Dave’s car on Craigslist in less than 24 hours, I’ve been getting loads of questions about buying and selling used cars.
While I would never consider myself an “expert” in this area, I figure it can’t hurt to simply share MY answers to some of these questions… along with a few fabulous online resources. Hopefully today’s post will be helpful for those of you trying to buy and/or sell a used car by owner!
A few weeks ago, Nora saw some of our neighbor kids painting on their driveway with paint brushes. Of course, she immediately wanted to be able to do the same thing… and even though we have buckets of sidewalk chalk, she NEEDED paint.
Thankfully, I found a super simple, super frugal DIY paint recipe that has kept her busy for HOURS outside painting our driveway!
Since the official start of Summer is this weekend, and since Dave has officially been home from school for 2 weeks already, I thought that celebrating the start of Summer and the fact that our little family will be at home together for another 10-11 weeks would be the perfect way to wrap up our fun Celebration Week!
My due date is 2 weeks away… so of course, it’s time to celebrate the Dekkers transitioning into a family of FIVE!
Even though there is a lot I’d like to do in the next 2 weeks, I can honestly say this is the most “ready” I’ve felt (physically, mentally, emotionally) to bring a new baby home… and yes, I can’t wait to celebrate the big news with all of you!
No, we’re not completely finished with everything on our “summer to-do list” but we have been making REALLY good progress over the past 10-12 weeks!
Although I can’t share all the official “after” photos just yet (because we’re not quite finished) I CAN share a whole bunch of “progress” photos so we can celebrate how far we’ve come in only a few weeks!
It’s official — my yogurt, cheese, and eggs all have expiration dates after my due date! And while we still have a lot to do before the baby arrives, we also have SO much to celebrate!
Today, I’m sharing a bit more of my tentative blogging plan for this summer… and I’m “spilling the beans” about a super fun Celebration Week going on next week here on the blog!
Today I’m sharing another life lesson I’ve learned from my kids… and I’m amazed at the difference it has made in my own life, in my family, and in my interactions with other.
The lesson might be overly-simplistic to some of you… but sometimes those simple lessons are worth repeating a few times so they can really sink in!
Believe it or not, I have never had any type of “birth plan”… and I don’t plan on making one for baby #3 either!
I realize many of you might think I’m crazy, and some of you certainly will not agree with my reasonings — and that’s OK. However since I’ve been asked about my birth plan many times over the past few months I figured it was time I shared why I’ve never had a birth plan.
Since Nora enjoys cooking and helping out in the kitchen SO much, I figured it might be fun to start posting a few SUPER simple recipes that not only taste great, but are easy for little hands to help with.
Todays very first “Kids in the Kitchen” post is a fabulously simple recipe for personal pan pizzas… and it just so happens to taste really good too!
