May is often considered the start of “wedding season” here in West Michigan — so since May is almost here, I thought it might be fun to share a whole bunch of ideas to repurpose your wedding dress.
I’m also sharing some oldie-but-goodie pictures from Dave and my wedding… almost TEN years ago already!
The recipe I’m sharing today is one of our family favorites — even the kids gobble it up!
If you’re looking for a new baked chicken recipe with simple ingredients, minimal prep work, a yummy crispy shell, and juicy meat with every bite, look no further!
Homemaking and parenting has never been (and will never be) “easy”, but with a little extra support, some helpful modern conveniences, and a boatload of useful resources, it’s getting EASIER!
What are your thoughts on parenting and homemaking today versus in past generations?
Although I rarely do massive amounts of deep cleaning at any point in the year, I find that almost every April, I get fed up with ALL paper clutter — physical paperwork, digital paperwork, and even emails!
This year, I’ve been especially ruthless with email clutter — and today, I’m sharing one quick-tip that has greatly reduced the time I spend checking emails!
We’ve had beautiful weather here in West Michigan and we’re making the most of it by spending lots of time outside doing yard work, planning our vegetable garden, and tiring our kids out!
Today I’m sharing another peek into our week…
When it comes to getting stuff done, I almost always choose to “do it now” rather than wait until later.
I realize there are A LOT of people who don’t share this mindset; however, I think my “do it now” philosophy has been one of the key factors in keeping my home and my life simplified and organized.
In general, I’m not a big accessories gal — I don’t wear much jewelry, I don’t wear hats, I don’t carry cute bags. However, 3 years ago, I discovered the BANDI belt, and I knew it would be the perfect “accessory” for my non-accessory-loving self!
Today, I have the opportunity to share it with you again (and offer a fun giveaway!)
After lots and lots of “research”, recipe testing, and recipe tweaking, I’ve settled on a new favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe that my family is crazy about.
If you’re looking for a crispy-on-the-outside, chewy-on-the-inside, non-fluffy, non-crumbly, really yummy chocolate chip cookie… this recipe is a must-try for you!
I have wanted to publish this post for over a year already, and just recently got the guts to actually “pull the trigger”!
I hope my opinions will be a source of encouragement for today’s parents… because we really are all just doing the best we can!
Over the years, I’ve written dozens of posts about paper organization… and while I can ALWAYS come up with more tips, tricks, and ideas to simplify and organize those dreaded paper piles, I thought I would take the opportunity to summarize many of my paper organizing posts I’ve already written in attempts to create an “at-a-glance” reference for most of your paper organizing needs.
The cost of paint and painting supplies has gone up a lot over the past 10 years — I was shocked to see how expensive my favorite paint brushes were the last time I was at the hardware store.
So, since we’re ramping up for another spring and summer of house projects in the Dekker home, I thought it was a good time to share a few simple ways I try to extend the life of my paint brushes.
Over the past month, I’ve gotten many emails and questions about how we handle snacks and desserts in our home — and since the Dekkers are all BIG fans of snacks and sweets, I figured it would be a fairly simple post to share.
Plus, I had so much fun digging up all those cute “messy face” photos of my kids from past years!
For my entire life, I have struggled to find a one-piece swimsuit that was even somewhat comfortable… I’m sure there are many fellow long-torso gals out there who can relate!
I have tried on more one-piece suits over the past 3 years than I can possibly count, and not one has worked. I was starting to feel discouraged… until recently. I’m happy to share that I have FINALLY found not one, but TWO suits that fully cover my super-long torso! Bonus points that they are cute, comfortable, and extremely frugal!
It’s no secret that I frequently buy used and 2nd-hand items for me, for Dave, for our kids, and for our house. I’m not ashamed to borrow something from a friend or relative — and you all know how much I love Craigslist 🙂
Today, I’m sharing 6 reasons I almost always buy used… as well as a fabulous resource for those of you looking to reduce your expenses!
James has never been an awesome nighttime sleeper, but he’s just so happy that we never really worried about it… until he started sleeping worse and worse around 5 months old. By 7 months, I was getting almost no sleep and having flashbacks to when Nora was younger.
I just couldn’t fathom doing 3 years of no sleep all over again, so we hired a sleep consultant. In less than 2 weeks, we had a much happier, more rested baby (and mama)! Today, I’m sharing the details!
We LOVE quick breads and muffins in our house, so it’s not unusual for us to have 2 or 3 different types of muffins or quick breads in our pantry at any given time… yes, I bake a lot of breads and muffins!
Today, I’m sharing a super simple tip that takes almost no extra effort but results in lighter, fluffier quick bread!
It’s been just over NINE years since I started my business, and boy has a lot changed since then! One thing that hasn’t changed though, is the constant “pressure” to do more, be more, make more, grow, expand, etc.
Today, I’m sharing why I’m intentionally NOT growing, expanding, or doing “more”…
Over the years, I have frequently mentioned that I don’t sort my laundry — like for real, I wash all colors and all fabrics together.
Recently, however, I have switched up how I do the laundry. I’m still not sorting colors, but this new method is saving me a boatload of time folding and sorting our clean laundry!
