Fall is here!
As I’ve mentioned many times before, Fall is my favorite season… so it’s only fitting that I share a few more of my favorite things!

In my opinion, Fall is one of the best times to fill your freezer — the cooler weather and shorter days allow me to spend more time in the kitchen, and Nora and I have been enjoying cooking together during the boys’ naps!
However, before I start stashing food away in our freezer for another year, there are a few things I always do first to prepare my freezer for Fall…

On an average day in our house, I think it’s realistic to say I answer upwards of 250 questions… for real!
It’s easy for me to get overwhelmed by all the questions and whining and just say “no” to everything — however, for the past few months, I’ve been working hard to say “yes” as often as possible… and it has made a big difference in how my kids react and how smoothly our days go.

Last week, I shared 10 reasons to get life insurance; and as expected, I got quite a few questions related to buying, having, and using life insurance.
Since I didn’t feel confident answering all of them myself, I asked the folks at Allstate if they would answer these questions for a follow-up post. They graciously agreed — and I have to admit, I learned quite a bit myself!

Over the past couple of years, I’ve mentioned the fact that Dave and I each have a life insurance policy… and every time I mention it, I always get lots of questions about why, when, how much, etc. etc.
Today, I’m sharing why we opted to purchase life insurance… and 10 things to consider if you’re in the market for life insurance.

Apples have been my favorite fruit for as long as I can remember, and I’ve acquired plenty of yummy apple recipes over the years. Today, however, I’m sharing a recipe that tastes (and smells) exactly like a yummy apple crisp, but… there’s not a single apple in the entire dish!
You won’t believe what I used instead!

With Dave back in school again, I’ve resurrected several of my most simplified weeknight meal ideas in attempts to get dinner on the table with all 3 kids scrambling around the kitchen!
These chicken quesadillas are definitely a family favorite — especially for me as I can get them on the table in 10-15 minutes flat!

Although I still prefer the toddler and preschool stage MUCH more than the newborn and infant stage, I’m happy to say that I’m enjoying my time with James so much more than I ever did with either Nora or Simon.
Maybe it’s because he’s an easier baby, maybe it’s because Nora is older and actually helpful, or maybe it’s because I’m learning to be a “better mom”. Whatever the case, I feel like the third time’s the charm for me ๐

Although I realize it’s not exactly a “cake”, if you ask me what my favorite cake is, I will always choose cheesecake!
Today, I’m sharing the relatively simple recipe for our family-favorite chocolate chip cheesecake. My favorite part is that it’s almost impossible to mess up the baking time, thanks to a new “trick” I recently learned!

As many of you know, “sleep” has been a hot topic in the Dekker household for the past 3.5 years… basically since we brought Nora home from the hospital!
Although sleep is one of my top priorities, I haven’t always been able to get the QUANTITY of sleep I would like. However, there are a few things I do that have helped me get more QUALITY sleep… I’m sharing those today!

Over the past couple of years, I’ve talked about how much our family has enjoyed using Netflix… and many of you have asked about our favorite shows to watch.
So, since I’ve had a little extra time to watch Netflix these past few weeks, I thought it would be a perfect time to share some of our family’s favorite things to watch on Netflix.
