Do Your Spaces Serve YOU and YOUR Season Of Life?

Over the years, I’ve frequently stressed the importance of “regular maintenance” in order to keep a space organized for the long-term.

However, another super important part of the organizational “puzzle” is to consistently re-evaluate and re-work your spaces so they SERVE YOU WELL. That’s what I’m sharing more about today!

When we renovated our kitchen several years ago, we had a little space to play with on the wall with our stove. We decided to install a tiny pull-out spice cabinet and wow, have we gotten our use out of that small space!

Today, after many years, I’m finally sharing my very simple method of storing and organizing our spices and seasonings.

My Big Kitchen Purge!

The week after Dave’s Christmas break, I did a Big Kitchen Purge — resulting in a HUGE donation pile, an over-flowing bag of trash, and a whopping FIVE empty shelves + TWO empty drawers!!!

I’m sharing more about this purge today, as well as how I repurposed several unneeded containers to better organize other areas of my home!

What I Keep on My Kitchen Counters

I was recently asked what I have sitting out on my kitchen counters — and I thought it would make a good blog post (especially since I’ve been asked this question many times over the years).

posted by Andrea | 04/6/2015 | 1 comment

When I was pregnant with Nora, I never even thought about registering for any “kids kitchen gear”. Fast-forward almost 4 years and our kitchen is now full of various “kids kitchen gear” as I call it.

Today, I’m sharing some of our favorite kids kitchen gear items — as well as how we organize it all within our kitchen!

How I Organize The Area Under Our Sink

posted by Andrea | 09/30/2013 | 23 comments

One question I get over and over and over again is how we use and organize the space under our kitchen sink.

To be perfectly honest, there are a handful of questions I get on a very regular basis about our sink, our faucet, etc. etc. so today, I’m answering a bunch of these questions for all the inquisitive farmhouse sink lovers out there!

Behind Closed Doors

What’s on the inside of your kitchen cabinet doors? If you answered “nothing”, my goal is to change that by the end of this post!

We use the inside of our kitchen (and laundry room) cabinet doors to store and organize all sorts of information — which means it’s always accessible and easy to find, but NEVER sitting out on the counters. Win-Win!

The Dish on Our Dishes

I love dishes! And over the last few years, I’ve received numerous emails with questions about our dishes, serving pieces, tablecloths, etc. and how I store all these items in our kitchen.

I figured it was probably time to share my dishes… and serving pieces, and tablecloths, and napkins with you — or at least share how I store and organize these items!

My REAL, Usable, Organized, Unpretty Pantry

posted by Andrea | 03/1/2013 | 40 comments

I’ve been reading a lot about pantry organization lately — and seeing loads of glamorous “designer pantries” {as I call them} plastered all over Pinterest. These pantries are fun to look at, but I have to question how functional and practical they really are — especially for busy families with children.

Today, I’m sharing pictures of our pantry — and although it IS organized, I’m hoping we’re not the only kitchen with an unpretty pantry!

I {Heart} Organized Drawers

In our first house, we had a grand total of THREE drawers in our kitchen. They were all extremely shallow so hardly anything fit in them. In our new kitchen, we have TEN drawers — and you better believe they are all big, deep, and wide enough to organize all our kitchen goodies!

Today, I’m sharing pictures of our new kitchen drawers — as well as all the different tools I’m using to keep them organized.

posted by Andrea | 09/3/2012 | 37 comments

Today’s post is just something I was thinking about over the weekend. I was thinking about our new fridge and how it won’t be magnetic… which will be a big bummer since Nora’s newest infatuation is with the magnets on our fridge!

I’d love to know what’s ON your fridge? Is is totally clear, just a few photos, or completely covered?

A Tour of Our “Apartment Size” Kitchen

posted by Andrea | 06/19/2012 | 15 comments

During our kitchen renovations this summer, we turned half our home office into an apartment size kitchen. It’s REALLY small, and it has no running water — so it’s certainly not the most practical kitchen I’ve ever used… but it works!

Today, I’m giving a “tour” of the tiny little “kitchen” we’ll be using for the next couple months. I’m sure it will make our new kitchen seem THAT much bigger!

Organizing a Refrigerator by Temperature

posted by Andrea | 02/15/2012 | 18 comments

Several weeks ago we started having major issues with our refrigerator; and as we were trying to fix the issues, I noticed that the top shelf of our refrigerator was 10-12 degrees warmer than the bottom drawers — and the same was true for the freezer!

Now that things are “fixed” I decided to reorganize our refrigerator by temperature… and I can’t believe the difference it has made in the freshness of our food!
