Thanks to a huge storm, Dave and the kids had THE ENTIRE week off of school for snow/cold days!
A full week of snow days is definitely one of my favorite things… today, I’m sharing a few more favorites!

This “recipe” is so ridiculously simple… however, since my goal is to cook, bake, and consume whole grains every day this year, I couldn’t resist the chance to share one of the easiest ways I’ve found to eat more whole grains!
If you’re looking for a super simple, super frugal, hearty whole-grain breakfast, try your hand at homemade oatmeal.

I know what it feels like to be “too busy”, to have more to-do list than time, and to procrastinate on various projects because they feel too overwhelming.
Fortunately, I have a super simple (yet very effective) motivator that seems to work almost every time I feel procrastination setting in. I’m sharing more in today’s post!

Today I’m sharing a list of questions Dave and I ask when we’re contemplating saving or splurging.
Of course, there is no right or wrong way to save or splurge, but I’ve found that my mental checklist of questions helps put my purchase into perspective, resist impulsive spending, and still enjoy regular splurges and special treats for myself and my family (without feeling guilty!)

In general, I’m not someone who goes over-the-top to celebrate any holiday, birthday, or special occasion… however, we DO still celebrate.
One of my favorite things to celebrate with my children is their half birthday, and today, I’m sharing some of the simple ways we make half birthdays extra special!

For the past several years, I’ve chosen one or two smallish “Healthier Habits” to incorporate into my life and my family’s life — they’ve all stuck because I took my time to implement them and didn’t try to change everything at once.
Today I’m sharing more about my “healthier habit” for 2019 — cooking, grinding, and baking with whole grains!

Oh the gloriousness of a fresh new year… a blank slate! So many goals, resolutions, and aspirations… so many things we want to change.
However, before we get too carried away making all sorts of changes and “improvements”, I’d like to encourage you to stop and note at least 5 things you are currently very content with.

Over the years, I’ve shared numerous posts regarding our digital photo books — however, as many of you have noticed, I have yet to share anything about how I handle home movies.
I get questions about it ALL the time, but I never have a great answer… that’s where YOU come in! If you have a working system for organizing and storing your home movies, PLEASE SHARE!!

I’m still committed to “only” doing laundry twice a week (a system that’s been working really well for me for over 2 years), and since I don’t want to do 10 loads of laundry on those 2 days, I’ve come up with a few different methods of dealing with what I consider “half-dirty clothes” — clothes that have been worn but aren’t worthy of washing just yet!

I hope you all enjoyed some part of your holiday season — even if it’s just the fact that the holidays are now over and won’t be back again for 11 months (no shame!!)
Today is our family’s first day back at school after a super fantastic 2-week-long Christmas break — I’m sharing more about our Christmas break in today’s post!

Today I’m sharing TWO of my favorite raw veggie salads. They are both SO flavorful, and an easy way to enjoy raw veggies without a lot of work or extra ingredients.
If you’re a salad-lover, I have a feeling you’ll like these salads too — even if it is a little strange to have a “salad” with no lettuce!

On an average day, I accomplish more by 8am then I do for the rest of the day. Part of the reason for this is because I wake up early, but another huge factor in my morning productivity is that I plan ahead to set my mornings up for success.
Even if you’re not a morning person, the concepts in this post can be applied to your life to help you make the best use out of YOUR most productive hours of the day!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, FRIENDS!!!!
I had a fabulous “week away” from my computer, the blog, social media, and even from most of my emails… but I’m excited to get into a better routine again.
Of course, you know that another new year (and month) means another new list of my favorite things!! Feel free to share some of YOUR favorite things in the comments!

Obviously, I’m a huge advocate for simple-living. HOWEVER, I also know there must often be times of busyness, stress, frustration, and “too much” in order to reach a goal, meet a deadline, or get where you want to go in life.
If you’re in a season of extra busyness, but you feel like it’s the right thing for you at this point in your life — I hope today’s post will offer some encouragement and motivation to push forward!
