We’ve had beautiful weather here in West Michigan and we’re making the most of it by spending lots of time outside doing yard work, planning our vegetable garden, and tiring our kids out!
Today I’m sharing another peek into our week…

Over the past month, I’ve gotten many emails and questions about how we handle snacks and desserts in our home — and since the Dekkers are all BIG fans of snacks and sweets, I figured it would be a fairly simple post to share.
Plus, I had so much fun digging up all those cute “messy face” photos of my kids from past years!

In my opinion, lunch time as a stay-at-home mom of 3 very young children often feels like the most crazy and stressful meal of the day.
Everything is rushed and crazy, and it’s hard to find time to eat lunch myself. However, I know I feel better and am more energized when I eat a better lunch… so I’ve come up with a handful of very simple lunch ideas that are quick and easy enough to pull off with 3 crazy kids around!

Two years ago, I started posting our meal plans each week — but then I realized that since we eat really simple foods and we eat the same things on a regular basis, these posts would probably get old. FAST. So I quit.
But ever since then, I’ve gotten a fair number of emails asking me to post more about what meals we eat on a weekly basis — so today, I’m doing just that!

I’ve been on a “quiche kick” lately and have tried out multiple different recipes. One thing I’ve noticed is that although I love pie crust on pies, I apparently don’t love them with quiche!
In the past, I’ve made quiche using crescent roll dough. Last week, I tried something new — hash browns as the crust!
As many of you probably realized by now, I took the entire month of August off from blogging — not because I was burnt out or feeling totally overwhelmed — but simply because I could.
We accomplished a lot AND we relaxed a lot over the past couple of months — and today, I’m sharing a bunch of the things we did while I was away.

Many people I know (myself included) often slack off on meal planning in the summer. I supposed it’s easy to put meal planning on the back burner {pun intended!}
However, these busy weeks of summer are some of the most important weeks to create and utilize a meal plan… because it will save you so much time and stress! If you are struggling to set up a meal-planning routine, here are 6 simple ideas that just might help.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve shared many pictures, recipes, and tips for cooking/baking in bulk in attempts to keep our freezer stocked. And whenever I mention my freezer cooking/baking sessions, I always get a handful of questions asking how I do it with a toddler (or any number of small children).
So today, I’m sharing 5 simple tips that helped me get back in my “baking-in-bulk groove” after Nora was born.

I’ve posted a bunch of pasta recipes already — but was surprised I hadn’t posted this recipe for Savory Sausage Pasta Bake. It was one of my all-time favorite recipes growing up — and although I’ve adapted it a bit from my mom’s recipe, it’s still one of our favorite weeknight meals.
If you’re a big pasta lover (and don’t like to spend all day preparing for dinner), you’ll definitely want to save this recipe!

As I’m sure you can tell by looking through my recipe box, I am NOT a gourmet chef. I don’t cook fancy foods, I don’t use hard-to-find or expensive ingredients, I don’t spend all day in the kitchen, and I don’t use complicated recipes. In fact, I rarely use recipes at all these days!
Today, I’m sharing 4 simple tips that will hopefully motivate you to be a little more adventuresome in the kitchen… and try cooking without a detailed recipe!
It’s no secret that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE pumpkin. I’ll try pretty much any food made with pumpkin, and there’s a fairly good chance that I’ll like it.
However, since our kitchen isn’t ready for cooking or baking just yet, I figured I’d share a bunch of delicious pumpkin recipes from around the web… all in one nice, organized spot for you 🙂
