Last week, our family flew to Kissimmee, FL, with my entire side of the family for spring break… and even though I felt more tired when we got home than before we left, I’d have to say that the week was a success (considering we traveled with 3 children 5 and under!)
Today I’m sharing a bunch of pictures from our trip!
Thanks to a bunch of fun travel opportunities, the Dekkers will be traveling more in the next 4 months than we have in the last 4 years — and yes, we’ll be taking all 3 kiddos with us to all our destinations!
Since I’m not necessarily an experienced traveler, I did a few quick internet searches for handy tips, tricks, ideas, and suggestions to simplify the traveling process with small children. Today, I’m sharing my favorite tips with you!
In light of a recent mini vacation we took last week, I’m sharing 2 relatively quick tips that help me to simplify the UNpacking process… In fact, they make it possible to be fully unpacked and on my 2nd load of laundry within 60 minutes of getting home!
Before we had kids, Dave and I joked about the day when we would eventually drive a minivan… and now, almost 10 years later, that day has finally arrived!
Today, I’m sharing why we decided to make the switch to a minivan, as well as some of my favorite minivan features.
Although I definitely wouldn’t consider myself to be a minimalist in most areas of my life, I have always tried to pack a relatively minimalist wardrobe whenever I travel.
So, since I know many of you will be traveling for the holidays (and because I’m wishing spring break would come sooner), I thought it might be good timing to share a few of my best tips for packing minimally — at least when it comes to clothing!
Dave and I are on a mini vacation with the kids this week… and as many of you know, I don’t necessarily love traveling all that much 🙂
Today, I’m sharing a somewhat humorous post about what it’s like for me to travel as a “Type-A, Over-Planned, Minimalist”… please tell me a few of you can relate!
If you’re looking for an extremely simple and portable way for your little one to sleep on-the-go or in your home, you might just want to check out the Dream Bassinet from Babyhome.
There are so many amazing features to this simple, yet elegant design… I can’t wait to use it for our new little guy in just a few short weeks!
We made it… whew!
Our very first family vacation with kids and I didn’t forget anything, we had a lot of fun, and we all made it home safe and sound (I kind of feel like I deserve a medal or something!)
We live in Michigan… more specifically, West Michigan. This means we have pretty nasty winters, thanks to “lake effect” snow, sleet, and ice that blasts our area ALL winter long.
Because of this, I’ve come up with a pretty good list of “car essentials” that I keep in my vehicle at all times — and a few extra items for winter and summer. Today, I’m sharing that list!
Our brand new double stroller was delivered just over a month ago — yes, you read that right — BRAND NEW!
Aside from diapers, wipes, and other “perishable” items, I think this double stroller was the very first baby thing I’ve ever personally purchased brand new — and today, I’m sharing a bunch of reasons why we’re loving our new stroller!
BABYBJÖRN’s newest product — their Travel Crib Light — is the perfect choice for families who enjoy traveling, families who are always on-the-go, or even those of us who just need an extra kid’s bed for Grandma’s house.
I would highly recommend this product and am super excited to be offering it as a giveaway today!
As I was planning ahead for when Nora would come visit Simon and me in the hospital, I realized she wouldn’t last 10 minutes without going stir-crazy in that hospital room.
Thankfully, I found a really neat idea on Pinterest for a travel art kit made out of an old DVD case. She LOVES it!!
Dave and I intentionally tried to simplify our 2013 Christmas Break. We’ve just been so busy, and we know things will only get busier with a new baby, so we’ve been doing a lot of relaxing lately.
We were also gifted a fabulous local getaway to the Homewood Suites by Hilton — Grand Rapids. It was the icing on top of our super relaxing Christmas break!
Today is a monumental day in the Dekker household! For the very first time since Nora was born (over 22 months ago) this mama bird is leaving the nest. And yes, I feel SO anxious, nervous, sad, excited… and guilty.
Keep reading for more about my mom-only “vacation”… and a few 17 week baby bump pictures 🙂
For those of you who don’t understand Nora talk, the title of this post should read “Our Vacation at the Cottage”. We spent all of last week lounging and lazing around at a cottage on Lake Michigan with Dave’s immediate family — it was glorious!
Now we’re back to laundry, and cooking, and yard work, and grocery shopping — but we feel refreshed after a lovely week away from our routine (and I’m sharing pictures today!)
I was recently given a Martha Stewart iPad case… and I immediately noticed how user-friendly it was, AND that it easily attached to the back of a car headrest (why didn’t someone think of that sooner!)
Since we love this iPad case, I figured you would too — so I’m giving one away! Come enter to win…
Dave’s spring break starts this Friday, and we are planning to spend a nice relaxing week AT HOME. Hallelujah!
But for those of you who are headed out of town, I have a few tips that should help you pack a little lighter… and could potentially save you a bundle if you’re flying!
It’s already been a full week since we arrived home from our crazy 5-day wedding road trip with Nora. And since I asked for your tips for traveling with tots before I left, I figured that I should also share what I “learned” on our first road trip with a baby.
Here are a few things we did that really helped the trip to go smoothly.
