posted by Andrea | 04/20/2017 | 17 comments

I realize many of you might be thinking the title of this post is a joke… but I’m serious.

Yes, I know you can’t literally “make-over” your entire home in 5-minutes — but you CAN make-over one drawer, one shelf, one cubbie, or one small section of your house in 5 minutes.

How Much Is Too Much? (my 2-part formula)

posted by Andrea | 04/18/2017 | 11 comments

Over the years, I can’t even begin to count the number of times I’ve been asked: How much is too much _______________________ (toys, clothes, shoes, bags, books, electronics, kitchen gadgets, tools, etc.)

Unfortunately, I don’t have the perfect answers for every situation… but I DO have a really simple 2-part “formula” that has worked well for my own home and life, and I have a feeling it just might work for you too!

How I Declutter My Inbox With Gmail Filters

posted by Andrea | 03/23/2017 | 25 comments

Due to my blog and all the different virtual assistant jobs I’ve had over the years, I currently have a very long list of email addresses that all go to one Gmail Inbox… even still, my Inbox almost always has less than 5 emails when I “close up shop” for the night.

I keep my Inbox organized and decluttered by setting up filters to automatically file my incoming emails to the appropriate folders. If you’ve never tried filters before, I’ll show you how to quickly set them up and start de-cluttering your own Inbox today!

Today, I’m sharing 7 ideas to help you sort through, purge, and repurpose some of your sentimental stuff!

How We Purge

posted by Andrea | 02/27/2017 | 23 comments

Last week, I talked a bit about why I’ve never been one to participate in “purging challenges” — and after publishing that post I figured if I was going to explain how I DON’T purge, I should probably take the time to share exactly how I DO purge the things we no longer need or want in our home!

I’m sharing our super simple system today!

The Point Of Purging – And Why I Don’t Do “Challenges”

posted by Andrea | 02/21/2017 | 17 comments

Over the years, I have been asked time and time and time again why I don’t ever blog about any type of “purging challenge”, and why I don’t do any type of purging challenge in my own life.

I get it… I can definitely see the motivational factor of being involved in a fun purging challenge, but they’ve just never been something I’m excited to promote, and today, I’m sharing why!

posted by Andrea | 02/6/2017 | 25 comments

A clutter-free home and life is not always as simple as making a few wise choices… but I do think that if we get in the habit of making better choices on a regular basis, our efforts to declutter and simplify will be THAT much easier.

Today I’m sharing 5 decisions that could cause excess clutter in our homes… as well as a few better decisions to make instead.

Why Every Household Needs An Important Information Binder

posted by Andrea | 01/24/2017 | 32 comments

Several years ago, I put together a large binder filled with ALL our important documents and information — basically a handbook for anyone who might need to step in and “run our lives” if we were unable to, for whatever reason.

Today, I’m sharing how I put this binder together, how I keep it updated… AND a free printable worksheet so YOU can get your important papers in order too!

I’ve officially been driving a minivan for a full year now — and yes, I still love it!

Since we’ve had a full year to use our van and assess our storage needs, I thought it might be a good time to share a bit more about how I’ve organized the interior of the van.

How We Manage and Organize Our Electronics

posted by Andrea | 12/19/2016 | 27 comments

I am often asked to share about how many electronics we have in our house, how we organize them, and how we handle our kids using electronics… but I’ve never felt like I had a lot to say about these topics since our kids are still relatively young and really have no idea how to use any of our electronics.

So today, I’m sharing a bit about how we manage our electronics, in hopes that those of you with older children (or no children) share what works for you too!

I hope a few of our ideas work for you too — and I’d love to hear other ideas you use!

Scarves are my most favorite accessory… and over the past 5+ years of wearing scarves almost every day, I’ve come up with a fairly simple system to keep them neat and organized.

It takes up very little space in my closet, it costs almost nothing, and it requires very little (if any) tools to put into place!
