Today is a special day for my most favorite person!
It’s Dave’s Birthday!
I’ve already written so many words about Dave over the past few years… but in case you’re a new reader, let me just tell you how lucky I am.
This man is PATIENT with a capital ‘P’!
He is quick to listen, slow to speak or pass judgment, quick to praise, slow to criticize.
He is a fantastic teacher, a devoted friend, a loving father, a patient spouse, and in general, he’s just a fun guy to be around!
I’m positive Dave knows how much he is loved, valued, and appreciated by our family.
In honor of his birthday (which perfectly coincides with the holiday baking season) I’m sharing a bunch of Dave’s most favorite Chocolate + Peanut Butter Desserts.
This man LOVES anything and everything with any combination of chocolate + peanut butter.
I swear the Culver’s closest to us has caught on to Dave’s chocolate + peanut butter obsession and regularly features his most favorite Flavor Of The Day (Really Reese’s) at least twice a month. It’s rare for the same flavor to run twice each month, but Really Reese’s appears on a very regular basis.
To give you an idea of how rich Really Reese’s is… it’s chocolate custard mixed with chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups, peanut butter swirls, and chocolate… and when Dave orders a Concrete Mixer, he orders Really Reese’s with EXTRA Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and chocolate brownie bites.
SO MUCH CHOCOLATE AND PEANUT BUTTER!
If I ever want to surprise him with a special treat, I hide a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in his lunch or make him a little mix of Peanut Butter M&M’s, peanuts, and Dark Chocolate M&M’s.
Over the spring and summer, Aldi had an amazing trail mix with all sorts of nuts, dried cherries, AND teeny tiny Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups — I think the kids each gave Dave a bag for Father’s Day and he was pleased as punch!
After we were married, it didn’t take me long to realize that the age-old saying, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”, could not be more true for Dave — especially if his stomach was filled with chocolate and peanut butter!
As is evident by the LOOOOOONG list of Chocolate + Peanut Butter desserts below, I have made him very happy with all the chocolatey, peanut-buttery goodness that has come out of my oven!
If you’re on a diet, you might want to stop reading now… otherwise, try out a few of my recipes below and enjoy these mouth-watering goodies along with our family this holiday season!
My recipes are divided up into categories below — just click on the dessert name to hop over to a detailed post with more pictures and the complete recipes.
Cookies and Candies
- 4-Layer Caramel Peanut Butter Fudge (so rich, they are only made ONCE a year)
- Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies (this is our whole families favorite cookie recipe)
- Monster Cookies (this is our whole family’s 2nd favorite cookie recipe — and it makes a TON)
- Simple Monster Cookies (a simplified, not-from-scratch, version of the recipe above)
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup cookies (I use mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in place of chocolate chips)
- Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Popsicles (so easy and a great snack for kids too!)
- 15-Minute No Bake Snack Balls (these are actually fairly nutritious!)
- Chocolate Pretzel Bites (you can use a mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup as the middle if you’d like!)
- Candy Corn, Peanut, M&M Mix (this stuff is addicting!)
.
Brownies and Bars
- Chewy Blondie Bars (they taste like peanut butter, but it’s really butterscotch)
- Brownie Cookie Bars (made with chocolate brownie mix and peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough)
- Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Bars (basically like a giant candy bar!)
- Chocolate Caramel Brownies (I often throw in some peanut butter chips too!)
- Easy Layer Bars (layers of dark chocolate, white chocolate, peanuts, coconut, etc.
- Chocolate Easy Layer Bars (the same as the recipe above but with a chocolate crust!)
- Scotcharoos (the most coveted chocolate + peanut butter dessert around our house!)
.
Cakes and Pies
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Brownie Cake (this thing is amazing!)
- Triple Chocolate Peanut Butter Bundt Cake (there are so many variations of this cake – I add in chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and then drizzle chocolate and peanut butter on top with some crushed nuts.)
- Chocolate Cake in the slow cooker (I add some peanut butter drizzle over the whipped cream and it’s absolutely to die for!)
- Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Dessert (yes it’s rich, yes it’s delicious!
- 10-Layer Ice Cream Cake (It uses store-bought ice cream sandwiches, layered with chocolate and peanut butter ice cream)
- Chocolate Chip Cheesecake (we drizzle chocolate and peanut butter over top — but you could also add peanut butter chips or chopped peanuts)
- Chocolate Peanut Butter No-Bake Pie (oh my word, this is good!)
.
Are you drooling yet?
I’m certain I will continue to share more chocolate + peanut butter recipes in the months and years to come — but for now, Dave has requested that anyone with additional chocolate + peanut butter recipes please share them in the comments.
I have all Christmas break to try out new recipes, and if it’s this easy to keep my husband happy, why wouldn’t I keep baking!?!
Happy Birthday Dave! We love you!

So many yummy things on this list! I agree with Dave – chocolate peanut butter is the best.

It looks like you have lots of new recipes to try, but I thought I’d share the recipe for these Buckeye Cookies that I just made. They are very rich, but will definitely satisfy the chocolate/pb craving!
Also, we’re having an “Andrea Dekker Christmas” over here! I’ve made your sweet and spicy snack mix and 4 layer fudge. We’re having a hard time restraining ourselves before all of our parties. 🙂

Andrea says
Thanks Tina — Yes, I’ll be baking a lot over Christmas break to try all of these new goodies!

What about peanut butter m&m’s? I buy the little fun packs at the $ store, so I don’t eat whole/big bags–SO GOOD. Do you make s’mores with Reese’s PB cups? SO much better than w/ a Hershey bar!
Andrea says
YES! We always have a bag of peanut butter M&M’s open in our candy cupboard 🙂 They are his go-to snack when he just wants a little chocolate!!

My husband has the same love for anything Chocolate Peanut Butter. This year shortly after Thanksgiving I made him the following “Peanut Butter Cookie Lasagna” dessert. It definitely made his Top 5 list! I hope Fave enjoys it too:).

Dave sounds like my kinda guy. Peanut Butter is my favorite food and when you add chocolate…hello!!
A couple of my favorites that I didn’t see on your list are:
Reese’s Cookie Bites – cut Pillsbury cookie dough into 1/2” slices then put a 1/4 slice into each spot of a mini muffin tin. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden and soft. Remove from over and push one mini Reese’s cup into each center and let cool. Delish!!
Peanut Butter No Bakes – no chocolate in these but still one of my favorites! Heat 1c. Sugar and 1c. White corn syrup over med heat until heated through and combined. Remove from heat. Add 2c. Peanut Butter & stir until combined. Fold in 4c. Corn Flakes. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper to cool. Addictive!!
And in a pinch, spread some peanut butter on top of a Moon Pie or Little Debbie Star Crunch. Two of my favorite peanut butter/chocolate quick treats!
Happy Birthday to Dave!
Kristi says
That’s pillsbury peanut butter cookie dough on the Reese’s Cookie Bites. Sorry

Your husband sounds wonderful. Born on Pearl Harbor Day, “a date which will live in infamy”.
There are SO MANY ads today- the most ever, on every section and every photo. It sure makes reading the post difficult and I do like your posts!
Andrea says
sorry about the ads — I might have to check the settings again. Thanks for letting me know!

My husband’s favorite combination is peanut butter and chocolate too. I am bookmarking this whole post under desserts so I can refer to it often.
Christy says
Frozen peanut butter pie
1 graham cracker crust
1can eagle brand sweetened condensed milk
1 cup creamy Peanut butter
1 container cool whip. The full fat and sugar kind.
Mix ingredients with mixer. Pour into crust drizzle with chocolate syrup. Freeze. Serve frozen. I like this because I can make ahead!
Another easy treat. . Melt peanut butter in microwave and pour over vanilla ice cream drizzle with chocolate syrup

YUM!!

Yum! Although I would add some Rice Krispies to the peanut butter mix.
Happy birthday Dave! I made my husband his 15th pineapple upside down cake for his birthday just yesterday.
Andrea says
Thanks Michelle!
And yes, I love adding Rice Krispies to anything with peanut butter and chocolate!

My husband is also a chocolate-and-peanut butter fan 🙂 We were making Oreo truffles one year and decided to get creative with the fillings. Here was his favorite: 1 package cream cheese; 1/4 cup peanut butter; 1 sleeve graham crackers, crushed; 1 TBSP sugar… mix those all together, make dough balls, then coat with melted milk or semi-sweet chocolate. It’s the closest we’ve come to copying a Reeses! Happy Birthday to Dave!
Andrea says
oh we LOVE those truffles — and your husband’s recipe sounds amazing!
Chris says
Happy birthday to Dave! And thank you for all the recipes! The saying, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”, made me think of a cute Pennsylvania Dutch saying from when I grew up – “Kissin’ wears out, cookin don’t” LOL.
Andrea says
haha — yup, exactly!
