How I Set Myself Up For Success Each Day

posted by Andrea | 01/2/2019 | 27 comments

On an average day, I accomplish more by 8am then I do for the rest of the day. Part of the reason for this is because I wake up early, but another huge factor in my morning productivity is that I plan ahead to set my mornings up for success.

Even if you’re not a morning person, the concepts in this post can be applied to your life to help you make the best use out of YOUR most productive hours of the day!

When Life Needs to Be Crazy for a Bit

Obviously, I’m a huge advocate for simple-living. HOWEVER, I also know there must often be times of busyness, stress, frustration, and “too much” in order to reach a goal, meet a deadline, or get where you want to go in life.

If you’re in a season of extra busyness, but you feel like it’s the right thing for you at this point in your life — I hope today’s post will offer some encouragement and motivation to push forward!

Have you ever wondered something like, Can I freeze this food?, Can I swap these ingredients?, Would this style flatter my figure?, Will this product work for my home?, etc.?

If you sometimes feel paralyzed by indecisiveness or even just unsure of what to do in various situations, give my worst-case-scenario approach a try. I have a feeling it will liberate you and help you move forward in so many areas of life!

Why A Messy Planner Works for Me!

posted by Andrea | 12/11/2018 | 49 comments

This time of year, I always get so many questions about planners. And due to the craze in Bullet Journaling, lots of these questions have been about any stickers, color-coded systems, or embellishments I add to my planner.

Surprisingly (or maybe not) I don’t add anything to my planner… in fact, my planner is REALLY messy! Today, I’m sharing why my “messy planner” works for me!

My 3 tips really aren’t all that revolutionary — however, they are simple tactics we can all implement into our daily lives… and they work! If you struggle to arrive on time, try my tips and see if they help!

DONE is Better Than PERFECT (My Top Productivity Tip)

posted by Andrea | 09/28/2018 | 24 comments

One of the pieces to my “productivity puzzle” is the fact that I am almost always focused on “done” versus “perfect”. I value quantity over quality (in a good way!), I work quickly and keep moving, I continually “do the next thing”, and I rarely get hung up on little details.

In my opinion, the vast majority of life can be accomplished with a “done is better than perfect” mindset — so let’s just save the perfection for heart surgeons and NASA engineers!

The Productive Power of a 20 Minute Timer

Since Day 1 of my blog (and my organizing business) I have preached the benefits of setting timers for various tasks and activities throughout the day.

If you tend to be easily side-tracked, today’s post might be just the motivation you need to make more progress on your to-do lists!

I Might Literally Have More “Usable Hours” In My Day!

posted by Andrea | 09/19/2018 | 28 comments

After sharing our new super-early morning routine a couple weeks ago, I was inundated with questions about how we survived on “only 6-7 hours of sleep”.

Honestly, Dave and I have never considered 6-7 hours to be a lack of sleep — and after reading so many of your emails and comments, it’s apparent that we might literally have more “usable hours” in our day compared to those of you who need 8-10 hours every night!

Today, I’m sharing links to my most favorite goal posts (pun intended!) from the past 8+ years!

Lifestyle Changes versus a Quick Fix

As many of you probably already know, lifestyle changes are SO MUCH MORE WORK and usually take significantly longer to implement and enjoy the benefits. However, if you’re looking for long-term results that are actually maintainable, lifestyle changes are definitley the way to go!

I’m explaining more (with several examples from my own life) in today’s post!

I’m Learning to Delegate… and I’m Finally On Instagram!

I realize delegating is not always an option; however, I can speak from experience that it IS an extremely effective way to simplify.

Today I’m sharing how I’ve simplified my business and personal lives by delegating some of my unloved responsibilities to others (this means you, social media!) I’m getting more done in less time, focusing more energy on the things I’m good at, and enjoying more freedom to pursue my own passions!

A Few Updates and Changes on the Blog

posted by Andrea | 07/10/2018 | 93 comments

I’ve been blogging for 8 years, and during that time, the internet has changed a TON. I find it nearly impossible to stay up with all the new trends, algorithms, and “best practices”… but maybe that’s because I really don’t care to try!

However, in an effort to practice what I preach, start small, do the next thing, and continue working towards improvement, I recently made a couple of smaller changes to my blog — I’m sharing those today!

How I Use My Early Morning Quiet Hours

posted by Andrea | 07/6/2018 | 25 comments

Since our kids are all in bed around 7:00pm every night, and since they all (usually) sleep through the night, I’m getting really good sleep, which means I can finally get back to waking up early again!

It might sound like an over-exaggeration, but every single aspect of my day runs smoother when I wake up early — I’m sharing more about how I use these early morning hours today!

Today I’m sharing more about “mindless manners” and how mastering my own mindless manners has been an important part of reaching my goals.
