Nora’s New Closet + How I Organize Toddler Clothes

posted by Andrea | 01/22/2014 | 17 comments

Last week, I shared all about Nora’s new big girl room makeover — but I sneakily withheld any visible images of her closet area as I wanted to save the whole “clothes organizing” deal for a separate post.

So as promised, I’m sharing all the goods on her new closet today (as well as how we’re organizing all her cute little toddler clothes!)

Our New Play Room

When we first purchased our home, one of the areas I was most excited about was the large landing area at the top of the stairs. And since we’re in the process of renovating Nora’s new “big-girl bedroom” upstairs, we decided that it was also a good time to transform this landing area into the playroom we envisioned when we first moved in.

After a little paint, carpeting, and a bunch of toys, this is what we ended up with!

Dear Well-Meaning Relatives: Please respect our request of fewer gifts for our kids.

Since I get SO many emails from overwhelmed parents asking, “how can we ask our well-meaning relatives to PLEASE stop giving our kids so much stuff?” I thought I’d write up a response in the form of a letter.

This post is intended to be humorous, so I certainly hope it doesn’t come off as offensive, rude, or disrespectful — and it is in NO WAY directed towards Dave or my relatives. 🙂

It’s official — Nora’s new play kitchen is finished! I’m super happy with how the finished product turned out — so much cuter than I ever thought, and so much like a real kitchen.

I had so much fun working on this project and I’m super excited to share the before / after photos with you today!

Our New Craft Corner

Over the past several months, it’s become very apparent that Nora LOVES doing crafts… so last week, I decided that my old method of storing and organizing our limited craft supplies needed a toddler-friendly update.

Within 45 minutes, I created a new (and very simple) craft corner in our kitchen — perfect for doing crafts at the kitchen table!

4 Reasons I Purged Almost All Our Baby Clothes

Back before I was pregnant with Nora, I would frequently organize for families with young children — and often times, a huge source of clutter for these families was all their out-grown baby clothing.

After seeing this time and time again, I decided that I would purge the majority of my out-grown baby clothing unless I had another baby who could wear it immediately after. Today, I’m sharing 4 reasons why.

How I Store and Organize All Our Baby Clothes

About 18 months ago, I posted pictures of our soon-to-be-baby’s closet… and all the cute baby girl clothes inside. It was neat, organized, and everything was in its place — obviously, because there was no person to wear the clothing or mess anything up yet!

Well, fast-forward a little over a year and although it’s not quite as organized, we still have a pretty good system for storing and organizing Nora’s clothes.

A Place of Her Own… Nora’s New Play House

One of the projects Dave and I tackled over Christmas break was transforming our boring office closet into a fun playhouse for Nora.

Surprisingly, it only took about 2 hours and cost less than $15 — however, we are so thrilled with the results, and Nora loves having a place of her own!

Yes, you read the title of this post correctly — her stubbornness won out so Nora is now fully transitioned into her “big girl” bed in her “big girl” room (at 1 year old!)

Today I’m sharing pictures of the mini-makeover 🙂

How I Organize Our Diaper Bag

posted by Andrea | 08/8/2012 | 22 comments

I’ve gotten quite a few questions asking what diaper bag we use, what we keep in our bag, and how we organize it.

And while I only have one infant’s stuff to cart around with me — I can at least offer some insight into how we {try} to keep things simplified and organized when it comes to the diaper bag.

In the months since Nora was born, I’ve received a crazy number of emails asking what items I would suggest for soon-to-be-moms looking to stay clutter-free and stick to a tight budget. All week long, I’ll be sharing my “must-have” items for infants — today, I’m talking about baby clothes!
