How I Save BIG On Prescriptions and Blood Work

posted by Andrea | 10/23/2018 | 25 comments

Over the course of our married life, Dave and I have been blessed with very good health. We’ve hardly ever been sick, we usually only visit the doctor for routine checkups, and we’ve hardly had to fill any prescriptions or pay for any medically-related expenses.

This past summer, however, we had several medical expenses… and after talking with my doctor, I found a brilliant and extremely simple way to save BIG on both prescriptions and blood work!

Due to the many questions I get from readers, I’ve recently been thinking about all the ways we try to combat boredom in our house. I’ve seen some clever acronyms floating around the internet — I’ve changed mine up a bit, but still with a similar vibe.

The next time your child complains of being BORED, try using one of these responses.

How I Practice Self-Care Every Single Day

posted by Andrea | 10/10/2018 | 31 comments

For a very long time, I had the underlying impression that “self-care” was a LUXURY or an EXTRAVAGANT INDULGENCE… definitely not something the average person could achieve on any sort of regular basis.

Now, many years later, my thoughts and perceptions have changed, and I practice self-care on a daily basis…. I’m sharing SO much more on this in today’s post!

Our Favorite Clutter-Free Teacher Gifts

posted by Andrea | 10/8/2018 | 43 comments

I don’t know if it’s simply because Dave is a teacher and I know how much time, effort, and energy they put into teaching their students every single day, but I’m much more willing to splurge on one of my children’s teachers than I am on any other non-family member.

I realize teacher gifts aren’t something every parent is so passionate about… but if you’re looking for a few clutter-free teacher gift ideas, I think today’s post will help — hopefully with plenty of time to put something nice together before the holidays!

Eat At Home… My Simple Weight-Management Plan

posted by Andrea | 09/20/2018 | 7 comments

Over the past year, our family has eaten almost every single meal at home… and it’s honestly amazing how much we’ve saved (both money and calories!)

Today I’m sharing a little more about how simply eating at HOME has been a key factor in helping me lose my baby weight and manage my weight moving forward.

Kid-Friendly Charcuterie… one of our favorite simple meals

posted by Andrea | 09/12/2018 | 10 comments

One of our children’s most favorite thing to eat is “meat and cheese” — a.k.a. a plate of food consisting of various meats, cheese, fruits, veggies, crackers, dips, nuts, etc.

Over the summer months (in an effort to spend less time in the house and more time outside by the pool) I decided to regularly serve up their’ favorite “meat and cheese” meal as a fun-looking, fun-to-eat, kid-friendly charcuterie board. WOW, was it ever a huge hit!

Kid’s Clothing That Works With Our Sensory Issues

posted by Andrea | 09/10/2018 | 45 comments

As many of you know, Nora struggled with several sensory issues as a baby and toddler. The doctors all told me she’d outgrow them by kindergarten… and for the most part, she did! The one area she still struggles with is clothing — she won’t wear anything that doesn’t “feel right”.

Since we just recently purchased several new items of clothing for her, I thought I’d share some of the brands and types of clothing that seem to work well for us — in hopes that maybe it will help some of you with sensory kiddos in your life!

Now that we have a couple weeks of school under out belts, it’s time for my tip…

How “Fun Lunches” Simplify Our School Routine

When it comes to packing lunches, it’s definitely not my most favorite thing on my list of daily to-do’s, but I certainly don’t despise it the way some of our friends, relatives, and other school families seem to!

In fact, after thinking about lunch packing more this past month, I might know at least one reason I don’t dread or despise packing lunches… I’m sharing my “secret” in today’s post!

Our New, Super Early Morning Routine

posted by Andrea | 08/29/2018 | 56 comments

A few weeks ago, Dave mentioned an article he had read about someone who went to bed around 9pm every night so he could wake up at 4am every morning. We were both intrigued by this idea, so we decided we’d give it a try for a couple months to see if it works for us.

So far, so good… and although waking up at 4 is NOT for everyone, it’s working for US for NOW. I’m sharing more in today’s post!

Clara @ 11 Months (+ one factor that changed my perspective of the infant stage)

posted by Andrea | 08/27/2018 | 34 comments

Clara is 11 months old!!! As many of you know, she has basically been a dream baby compared to my other 3. She is so happy, sweet, easy-going… and her first year has been better than I ever hoped it could be.

However, in my opinion, there is an even bigger factor that has completely revolutionized the way I feel about parenting an infant now versus when Nora was a baby…

posted by Andrea | 08/8/2018 | 42 comments

After months (maybe years) of listening to their begging and pleading, we finally let our kids set up a stand at the end of our driveway. It was not fun, they did not make much money, and they never want to do it again!

However, I quickly realized they were learning several valuable life lessons in the process… in fact, I even learned one too!
