A Simple, Frugal, and Fun Wedding Shower Idea

posted by Andrea | 06/6/2019 | 18 comments

One of my favorite wedding showers was a “Pantry Shower” where everyone brought a recipe and a few of the non-perishable ingredients for that recipe. This shower was a fantastic way to quickly fill up our EMPTY pantry and kitchen cabinets with a huge variety of foods.

If you’re looking for fun, frugal, practical, easy-to-put-together shower ideas for almost any new couple (or new homeowner) THIS is it!

My Method for Choosing Children’s Library Books

posted by Andrea | 04/12/2019 | 20 comments

Over the past 7 years of regularly visiting our local library, our family hasn’t even come close to reading every single book in the children’s section.

However, in my opinion, we HAVE done a really great job of reading through a huge variety of books each week — thanks to a super simple method I implemented a few years ago!

My Mother’s Ring (and a Jewelry Discount!)

posted by Andrea | 04/11/2019 | 14 comments

As some of you know, I recently designed and ordered a “Mother’s Ring” (a ring with all my children’s birthstones).

I’m so happy with how the ring turned out and I’ve had such great experiences working with Engels Jewelry Company over the last 20 years that I thought it might be fun to offer a discount on all Mother’s Jewelry… just in time for Mother’s Day!

How Quickly We Forget: Encouragement for hard seasons of life

posted by Andrea | 03/11/2019 | 30 comments

I suppose I’m glad our brains tend to push memories of hard times to the side, but I DO hope I never fully forget how difficult different seasons of life were in an effort to better empathize with others.

If you’re struggling in a rough season of life, I hope today’s post is somewhat encouraging for you!

When Comfort and “Cool” Combine (+ a Giveaway)

posted by Andrea | 01/24/2019 | 26 comments

As our children get older, it has been fun to see how their personalities and personal preferences morph over time… especially when it comes to their clothing and shoes!

I’m sharing more about this (somewhat humorous) topic today, and I’m giving away away a couple pairs of our kids’ most favorite shoes!

Simple Ways We Celebrate Half Birthdays!

posted by Andrea | 01/17/2019 | 40 comments

In general, I’m not someone who goes over-the-top to celebrate any holiday, birthday, or special occasion… however, we DO still celebrate.

One of my favorite things to celebrate with my children is their half birthday, and today, I’m sharing some of the simple ways we make half birthdays extra special!

Reader Question: How to Store and Organize Home Movies

posted by Andrea | 01/10/2019 | 19 comments

Over the years, I’ve shared numerous posts regarding our digital photo books — however, as many of you have noticed, I have yet to share anything about how I handle home movies.

I get questions about it ALL the time, but I never have a great answer… that’s where YOU come in! If you have a working system for organizing and storing your home movies, PLEASE SHARE!!

How We Grow Our Children’s Savings Accounts

posted by Andrea | 11/7/2018 | 21 comments

At this point in our lives, Dave and I don’t give any type of allowance to our children. However, we DO have an extremely simple method of growing our children’s savings accounts that requires zero effort on our part.

The whole process is automated through our bank… and it’s amazing how quickly the money adds up!

Fun Conversations Starters (for adults, kids, introverts, and anyone else!)

posted by Andrea | 10/26/2018 | 12 comments

As self-proclaimed introverts, Dave and I are not much for small-talk. We can manage boring small-talk conversations just fine, and I certainly wouldn’t ever consider us to be “socially awkward”.

That said, with the holiday party season just around the corner, I thought it might be fun to come up with a list of Fun Conversation Starters for anyone who would rather not discuss the weather or work with every new person they encounter! I also have a great list of 20 conversation starters for kids!

We Bought a Pool… Here Are My Thoughts!

posted by Andrea | 07/12/2018 | 49 comments

Since the day I first shared a picture of the pool we bought at Costco this spring, I have been inundated with questions and requests for a blog post about our pool — so that’s what I’m sharing today.

If you’re in the market for an inexpensive, temporary above-ground pool, I hope today’s post will be helpful for you. If not, I hope you enjoy the cute pictures of my kids!

The End Of An Era + One More Glamourmom Giveaway!

posted by Andrea | 06/18/2018 | 3 comments

I was recently thinking about the fact that I have been pregnant or nursing (or both) for my last 8 birthdays… and I’m pretty sure my 33rd birthday (this past Saturday) was the last birthday I’ll be stuck in the pregnant/nursing camp!

To celebrate, I thought it was only fitting (pun intended) to share one more fantastic giveaway and discount offer from Glamourmom, the creator of my most favorite nursing tops EVER!

So Many More Strollers (+ our current favorite)

posted by Andrea | 05/18/2018 | 30 comments

Exactly 5 year ago, I shared this post about our favorite strollers. At the time, we only had one child, but I had already tried out close to a dozen different strollers — buying and selling them on Craigslist (and often making a profit in the process!)

Well, 5 years and 3 more babies later, we have an entirely new line-up of strollers… that’s what I’m sharing more about today!

How I Style My Short Hair (a Video!)

posted by Andrea | 06/27/2017 | 52 comments

After enjoying very long, curly hair for the first 23+ years of my life, I’ve had shorter hair for almost 9 years now… and I just LOVE it!

I’ve gotten so many requests to share exactly how I style my hair each morning; and even though it only takes me a minute or two, I had fun finally making a video tutorial!

A More Detailed Look at our Important Info Binder

posted by Andrea | 05/2/2017 | 32 comments

Ever since I first shared our Important Information Binder, I have gotten so many questions, comments, and emails asking for more specific information about what exactly we keep in our binder — what documents, what information, etc.

At first, I didn’t want to answer these questions as I felt they were too personal — but then I realized that my main goal for sharing our binder was to help others get their information as organized as possible. So today, I’m sharing exactly what we keep in our important information binder.

My Simple (and frugal) Long-Torso Swimsuit Solution!

posted by Andrea | 04/12/2016 | 32 comments

For my entire life, I have struggled to find a one-piece swimsuit that was even somewhat comfortable… I’m sure there are many fellow long-torso gals out there who can relate!

I have tried on more one-piece suits over the past 3 years than I can possibly count, and not one has worked. I was starting to feel discouraged… until recently. I’m happy to share that I have FINALLY found not one, but TWO suits that fully cover my super-long torso! Bonus points that they are cute, comfortable, and extremely frugal!

Preserving Your Memories Just Got SO Much Easier!

posted by Andrea | 03/23/2016 | 22 comments

One of the Christmas gifts we gave my parents was an empty box… and you know what, they LOVED it! That’s because the empty box was a “Legacybox”… which they could fill with all their old photos, VHS tapes, and other memories to be digitally preserved.

If you would love to digitally preserve your old memories but you just don’t have the time, energy, or tools, Legacybox might be your answer too!

Why We Don’t Homeschool

posted by Andrea | 03/18/2016 | 51 comments

Over the past year, I have gotten a surprising number of emails asking why we aren’t homeschooling Nora, suggesting that we should homeschool her, or asking if we would ever consider homeschooling our kids. I have gotten an equal number of emails that, for whatever reason, assume that we DO homeschool our kids.

So today, I’m sharing a few reasons why we don’t homeschool — and why we really have never considered it as an option for our family.
